She combines practical plant knowledge with a public-health perspective on food, wellbeing, and urban nature. In 2025, she took part in the WildBiome project, living on wild local foods for a month to explore their effects on the body — insights that inform her teaching today. We play TRAMPOLINE DODGEBALL every two weeks for FUN! Amsterdam is often described through its modernity, its crowds, and its constant reinvention. But beneath the surface, an older city quietly survives — one made of dark wood, narrow spaces, worn counters, and stories absorbed by the walls. **Raising the Bar** is a new, irregularly scheduled series dedicated to discovering the bar culture of a city through a clear historical or cultural thread. This first edition takes place in Amsterdam and focuses not on “the best beers” or the trendiest places, but on two drinking institutions that are deeply rooted in Dutch tradition: **brown cafés** and **jenever proeflokalen**. These places are not museums — they are living spaces. Taverns shaped by climate, trade, and working-class life, where wood, brass, glass, and time define the atmosphere. Places where drinking has always been less about fashion and more about ritual, habit, and community. During this walk, we will visit **8 traditional bars**, moving through an Amsterdam that feels surprisingly distant from the contemporary city surrounding it. Join us for some casual pickup in Museumplein. All levels and ages are welcome. You don't need anything but we recommend decent shoes and a water bottle. Don't worry about the low attendance on Meetup – we almost always have enough to play, they are just too lazy to RSVP.
