Updates

  • What a week. The 2026 Special Olympics USA Games brought together athletes, families, and organizations from across the country, and we were honored to be part of it. Unified Work exists to create real employment pathways for people with disabilities. This week we got to share those resources directly with athletes, families, and partner organizations from other states. Connecting people to tools that open doors to meaningful work is exactly what this mission is about. Minnesota showed up. 136 medals and a 1st place finish for Team Minnesota. We are leaving this week with new connections, new partners, and a renewed commitment to expanding what is possible for people with disabilities in the workforce. The work continues.

  • Today is the final day of the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games, and we are not ready for it to end. This week in Minneapolis exceeded every expectation. We got to welcome partners into our facility, host athletes in the Athlete Village, cheer on competitors, sit on panels, and connect with organizations from across the country who share the same belief we do: that people with disabilities belong in the workforce and deserve every opportunity to thrive. One of the most meaningful outcomes of this week was the chance to share Unified Work with other states. Watching organizations learn about the resources available and leave with new tools to build inclusive employment pathways in their own communities is exactly why this work matters. MDI | Minnesota Diversified Industries has been doing this for over 50 years. But this week reminded us that the movement is bigger than any one organization. When we share what we know, more people win. We are leaving this week grateful, energized, and more committed than ever to the mission. Thank you to everyone who stopped to talk, partnered with us, competed alongside us, and showed up for this community. We will see you out there.

  • Day 4 of competition at the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games and our MDI | Minnesota Diversified Industries team showed up in a big way. Team members from our locations up north made the trip down to Minneapolis to support the athletes this week. Others headed to the Wells Fargo event to cheer on the volleyball championships. Different locations, different events, same reason for being there. This week has reminded us why inclusive employment is not just something we talk about. It is something we live. The athletes competing here are part of the same community we work alongside every day. Proud of our team for showing up.

  • At Unified Work, we see every day what’s possible when people are given the opportunity, support, and environment to succeed. With the Games coming to Minnesota, we’re excited to help bring that belief to life in a visible, powerful way. #CallingAllChampions #SpecialOlympicsUSAGames

We believe ability should be seen, supported and celebrated. That is why the Special Olympics matters to us. The Games are not just about competition. They are about access. Confidence. Belonging. They create a public stage where athletes with intellectual disabilities are recognized for their strength, discipline and determination. That connects directly to MDI’s mission. Every day, we work to create meaningful employment opportunities for people with disabilities. We see what happens when people are given the right support, the right environment and the chance to contribute. Talent grows. Confidence builds. Communities get stronger. With the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games coming to Minnesota, our home state has a powerful opportunity to celebrate inclusion in action. We are proud to support a movement that reminds us all of something simple and important: ability is everywhere when opportunity exists.
