Open the appThe Pierce County Community Engagement Task Force was formed in May 2019 by WorkForce Central in recognition that workforce services were not truly welcoming and accessible to everyone in our community. We stand with the community to tackle our toughest workforce challenges. We are proactively seeking people’s stories, building trust, and creating hope as we strive to redesign services and systems in which no one is pushed aside or left behind. Anyone who shares our commitment to recognizing and addressing disparities in services and outcomes can join the Task Force; we currently have nearly 150 members from multiple sectors throughout Pierce County.

Today members of the Pierce County Community Engagement Task Force gathered for a powerful session facilitated by Matt Ehler, CEO of Prosperity Wellness Center. Matt walked us through the 12 stages of burnout, helping us not only how to recognize the warning signs, but also the importance of self-care, work-life balance, and strong relationships in preventing and recovering from burnout. We left reminded: you and your mental health matter. Taking time for rest, balance, and connection isn’t selfish, it’s essential.

What an incredible day at the Avenues to Opportunities event! In partnership with WorkSource Pierce and Washington State Department of Social and Health Services, we welcomed over 500 community members to access vital resources and opportunities. With 60+ vendors on-site, attendees were able to connect with organizations offering employment, education, training, supportive services, utility assistance, and even a vaccine clinic! The DSHS mobile van was also available to assist individuals with essential services. A heartfelt thank you to the 20+ volunteers who made this event a success, as well as the three amazing food trucks – Boss Mama's Kitchen, Lumpia Love, and Just A Pizza My Mind – for providing 300 free meals to participants. We are also grateful to our generous sponsors, Pioneer Human Services, Molina Healthcare, and Coordinated Care, for their unwavering support. Thank you to all who joined us today and helped make this event a true success.
