A new year often inspires fresh beginnings - and sometimes the smartest change starts right above our heads. Upgrading roof windows is one of the easiest ways to improve comfort, energy efficiency and sustainability in existing buildings. New year, new me - and new FAKRO windows in my home can be a practical, eco‑friendly step forward. At the DEKRA branch in Vechta, Germany, 17 ageing roof windows were replaced with modern FAKRO solutions. What made this project stand out was not the scale, but the approach: the original interior lining was preserved, installation was fast, and material use was minimized. The result? Better insulation, lower energy demand and a noticeably more comfortable indoor climate. Using FAKRO pivot windows with adjustable ventilation and height‑adaptable flashing, the building achieved a significant performance upgrade with minimal intervention. European Cooperation for Economic Development and Technological Sovereignty From 26–28 November 2025, representatives of Polish and Flemish institutions gathered in Brussels and Flanders to explore new opportunities for collaboration in research, innovation and technological development. The study visit was organised by IZTECH, FIT - Flanders Investment & Trade, the National Centre for Research and Development, and the Industry Contact Points of the Łukasiewicz Research Network. The programme delivered a powerful mix of high‑level institutional meetings, research & industry showcases, and hands‑on collaboration opportunities. Participants connected with the European Parliament, European Commission and major European Partnerships, explored the innovation potential of Polish and Flemish ecosystems, joined matchmaking sessions for Horizon Europe and FP10, discussed key policies shaping Europe’s technological sovereignty, networked with the Belgian innovation community, and visited leading Flemish companies, R&D hubs and tech campuses - all in just a few intensive days.
