Evanjafrica is an incredible organization impacting the lives of children and broader community in the Nampula region of Mozambique. Victor and Christina Carlos run a faith based orphanage, caring for and raising whole kids as their own, and school, which is an incredible service to the community. I met Victor in the early 2000's shortly after he married our friend Christina. My wife and I were so impressed with his vision and execution for Evanjafrica. After supporting their efforts for many years, I joined the board in 2021, to help move the organization to the next level and offer my time, experience, and skills in a bigger way. It is an amazing faith based crisis-retreat center that services hurting people, offering renewal, counsel and a safe place. I've been privileged to participate in "work retreats" where we maintain their campus and complete various projects to improve the large, off the grid remote campus.

Launched Automated Behavioral Email Program
This was an awesome project. We partnered with an innovative startup to implement automated behavioral email based on website activity. This involved no small amount of creative thinking to solve various technical obstacles and collaboration across design and IT teams. This program quickly grew to generate almost 25% of email revenue and a text vs. control demonstrated the average revenue per subscriber increased almost 30%. Big wins.

Retention Marketing Series
I helped a team introduced a retention marketing series to the email program using data to drive relevant and targeting email series based on the actions taken in the customer lifecycle. This project involved working with multiple stakeholders and vendors to tie data, content and behavioral triggers together so customers received relevant and timely messages related to their purchase behavior.

Email Service Provider Selection and Migration
We vetted several vendors including ET, Responsys, Cheetah Mail, Bronto and Bluehornet. Ultimately we selected Silverpop and I lead the transition onto the new platform.

Launched Marketing for evoTrip
During its first year, I launched evoTrip by being responsible for all marketing aspects including integrating evoTrip into the evo site customer experience, email marketing strategy, partnering with various organizations to promote the effort, and getting it off the ground.
Despite being a "beta" year, we sold out all available seats and have since greatly expanded into a contributing arm and permanent offering of evo.

Developed Internship Program
Built a successful internship program that stood the test of time, employing between 5-10 interns per year over the course of 5+ years. This project involved working with a direct report to develop recruiting strategy, compensation approaches, documentation of standards, training programs and overall guidance. The program was responsible for producing 100% of product content and served as a successful launching pad for many careers.

Started Call Center & Built Team from Scratch
I launched evo's call center from the ground up including budgeting, systems research, selection and implementation, hiring, training, establishing KPI's and ongoing recruiting, staffing and developing our small initial call center team of four. During this period sales from our call center improved from essentially nothing to ~30% of sales.

Responsive Website Redesign - A Multi-Million Dollar Win

See projectI championed and lead a cross-departmental effort to redesign www.evo.com from the ground up, effectively redesigning every major template on the website. My role was to lead the project. I managed the agency we worked with and was involved in almost every aspect of the migration, from nitty gritty design decisions to implementation strategy.
This was one of the most challenging and rewarding single projects I've every undertaken. The project was delivered on time and on budget. Using…I championed and lead a cross-departmental effort to redesign www.evo.com from the ground up, effectively redesigning every major template on the website. My role was to lead the project. I managed the agency we worked with and was involved in almost every aspect of the migration, from nitty gritty design decisions to implementation strategy.
This was one of the most challenging and rewarding single projects I've every undertaken. The project was delivered on time and on budget. Using demonstrated conversion rate lifts, the new site delivered several million dollars in incremental top line revenue in year one while revitalizing evo's largest and most impactful consumer facing touchpoint.
