Chloe Autio reposted thisChloe Autio reposted thisWe hosted an outstanding Scholar Series panel on Capitol Hill this week, focused on AI and manufacturing. Our expert panelists led a thoughtful and engaging discussion on how AI is reshaping manufacturing and, in turn, the broader economic landscape, the future of the workforce, and the importance of upskilling. Thank you to our moderator, Chloe Autio, Autio Strategies, and to our panelists Andres Castrillon, Qualcomm, Bernie Lourim, FANUC America Corporation, Brianne Miller, Microsoft, and Polina Zvyagina, General Motors.

Chloe Autio reposted thisChloe Autio reposted thisSaw my first "Chief of Staff & Agents" job title this week while putting together Ali Rohde Jobs. Made me stop scrolling instantly. This is not a posting for an AI Engineer or Prompt Engineer. The role is for Chief of Staff. That means being able to build and orchestrate agents is no longer just a requirement for technical roles. If you're trying to break into CoS or ops roles (or land a new job broadly), the highest ROI on your time right now is learning how to actually build, ship, and refine AI workflows. Use Claude Code, Cowork, Codex, OpenClaw, whatever tool clicks for you. Go.

Chloe Autio reposted thisChloe Autio reposted thisLast week, Chloe Autio gathered industry, academia, and government around a single question: as AI levels the playing field on execution, where does genuinely original thinking still live? The real disruption isn't AI replacing workers. It's AI collapsing the differentiation that organizations used to take for granted: speed, scale, execution quality. It’s an even playing field now. And yet, we see the same playbook being run. Enterprises spending heavy on AI infrastructure, cutting headcount, streamlining judgment, and optimizing away the experience. That works, until the model breaks. Until the edge case arrives that no training data anticipated. Until a real decision has to be made and the people who knew how to make it are gone. What's left is the stuff no model can predict or produce. The hot take. The judgment call outside the training data. The idea that didn't exist yet. One group at the table (Hupside by Erich and Jonathan) is trying to measure exactly that capacity. Worth watching. For me, it’s not a question about whether we can measure originality or innovation. It's whether your company has thought to look. Most haven't. And that gap is about to matter. #AI #Leadership #FutureOfWork

Chloe Autio liked thisChloe Autio liked thisToday, Atalanta is coming out of stealth. We are a mathematical AI company with a vision to bring provably correct decision-making to the world's most important missions. The systems underpinning critical infrastructure, national security, and autonomous operations are growing more complex and interdependent than our ability to reason about them. The U.S. government calls this challenge "the software understanding gap." We built Atalanta to deliver on this national priority by combining AI and formal methods with the speed, agility, and precision that critical missions demand. Over the past 15 months, we've deployed our flagship product, Argo, with leading institutions across energy, space, and defense. We've built a team of exceptional people deeply committed to solving this problem, and we're now growing quickly and expanding across engineering, mathematics, strategy, and design. Just published with The Cicero Institute: a practical guide for state agencies navigating the post-Chevron regulatory landscape and restoring clearer lines of authority between law and regulation. By proactively reviewing outdated statutes, rigorously evaluating rules, and migrating durable policy into law, agencies can reduce legal risk and create clearer regulatory frameworks. This paper lays out a four-step approach already implemented at scale, showing that reform can be practical, disciplined, and institutionally stabilizing. https://lnkd.in/g83bwHP5

Thoughtful and insightful piece by my colleague David Maimon on efforts (and shortfalls) by the federal government to combat increasingly sophisticated identity fraud challenges. Key piece for me: inflexible regulations, misaligned standards, and inertia that makes it hard for forward-thinking agencies to adopt the newest and best tools.

Need a great example for AB 1018's broad overreach into mundane uses of AI? See what the California State Water Board has to say: "The State Water Board reports, as written, this bill’s definition of automated decision system is vague, ambiguous, and could encompass many current tools used, like excel workbooks. These tools are used broadly across Water Boards programs, and many are used to inform actions that could be considered consequential actions under the bill." USPS OIG • 269 followers
The USPS OIG recently published a great white paper on international approaches to adjusting posts’ universal service obligations (USOs). USOs guarantee all citizens within a country affordable, consistent postal service, regardless of location. But, declining mail volume and market competition have made it harder for postal operators worldwide to sustain the costs of providing the USO. Many countries are modifying their USOs by reducing delivery days, slowing service standards, changing requirements for the network of post offices, or reducing the scope of products within the USO. In the US, the legal framework of the USO is unique because there is no government department directly responsible for postal policy or a specific formal process to adjust it. Take a look at the research and findings in the white paper and digital story! https://lnkd.in/eVrgs4Jy

THIS IS A VERY BIG DEAL BURIED IN BEAUCRATIC FINE PRINT. The Administration is taking their fight against diversity to a whole new level. They backed away from recent lawsuits because they had a much bigger play in the works, and this is it. If finalized, it would essentially make every organization that gets any federal money agree to abide by....whatever they come up with. And if they decide you did something they don't like, they can sue you and prevent you from getting any federal funds ever again. This could have potentially devastating consequences for state departments of education, districts, colleges and universities, non-profits, researchers, etc., anyone who gets a federal grant or contract. All of the details are in our new FAQ. The proposal is open for public comments through the end of the month.

As we gear up for the ICSC Federal Fly-In, I’m looking forward to moderating this conversation with my colleagues Andy Fishburn and Phillips Hinch on what’s ahead for the marketplaces industry in Washington. We’ll preview the key policy issues shaping ICSC’s advocacy agenda this year—from efforts to combat organized retail crime to the upcoming extension of the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act and legislation supporting retail real estate redevelopment. For ICSC members planning to participate in this year’s Fly-In, this webinar will offer a helpful look at the policy landscape and the priorities we’ll be bringing to Capitol Hill. With dozens of age verification laws going into effect across US states I spoke to TechRadar about why adult content restrictions have much broader risks. 🚧 It’s one thing to require adult websites to take steps to prevent children from accessing their sites. 👉 Most people agree that it is reasonable to expect some safeguards and to have social media services take measures to hide or block sexual content so that children aren’t unexpectedly exposed. 🚨 🪪 It’s another thing entirely to require everyone in a state to hand over an ID and risk their online privacy and security to access legal material. 🔓 Every online service is vulnerable to a data breach. This puts people at risk of having their ID and sensitive personal information exposed for accessing sexual health and educational content and communities. 🛡️ 🛠️ Age verification requirements don’t keep people safe on their own. Age-based safety measures that provide default protections and give people control over the type of content they want to see are better alternatives. https://lnkd.in/e-GbgrSx

In digital markets, harms to consumer welfare with respect to privacy, attention, choice, and innovation are antitrust concerns and will be a focus of Department of Justice antitrust enforcement in the Trump administration. That was one key message in the speech yesterday by principal deputy assistant attorney general Roger Alford to the IAPP Navigate summit. An additional key message: Antitrust law applies to algorithmic pricing and other uses of AI to foster wage or price fixing and other anti-competitive collusion and will be another major focus of DOJ enforcement. Both of these themes emerged in the Biden administration, with the Google search, Google ad tech and RealPage proceedings, but it will be interesting to see them taken forward by the new administration. https://lnkd.in/g2XenC78
