Share an Insight Tag across ad accounts in Campaign Manager

Last updated: 2 days ago

Streamline and simplify your campaign measurement and targeting by sharing your Insight Tag across multiple ad accounts. Using the same Insight Tag helps create consistency across your teams, since it allows different accounts access to features like conversion tracking and website retargeting audiences based on the same source data.

Prerequisites

Before you can share an Insight Tag across your accounts, you need to set up the following prerequisites.

Prerequisites Learn more
Creative manager level access or higher on the account that the Insight Tag is being shared from. Learn about the different roles in Campaign Manager and what features each role has access to.
Viewer level or higher access on the ad account that's receiving access to the Insight Tag. If you don’t have viewer level access on the receiving ad account, you’ll need to request that a user with account manager access or higher adds you. Learn more about how the account manager can add you to an account.
Access to the name or account ID for the ad account you want to share your Insight Tag with. Once you have viewer access to an account, you can find the account ID. Learn how to find an ad account ID.

Please note, if an Insight Tag already exists on your site and you’d like to use that tag for your ad account, you’ll need to reach out to a user with creative manager access or higher on the account that owns the tag.

Here's a tip

Giving another account permission to use your tag doesn't impact your ability to use that tag for your own ad sets.

Share your Insight Tag across accounts

To share your Insight Tag with another ad account:

  1. Go to your ad account in Campaign Manager.

  2. Click Data on the left menu, then click Signals manager.

  3. In the Sources section, click Insight Tag

    1. If you haven’t created an Insight Tag, learn how to create your tag
    2. You’ll then need to add the Insight Tag to your website and confirm that it’s status is Active in Campaign Manager.
  4. In the Data connection information section, click the Manage Insight Tag dropdown menu and select Manage sharing.

  5. Click the Dropdown icon to expand the option for either full access or use-only access.

    • Accounts that will have full access - Allows the account you’re sharing with to modify the Insight Tag permissions, accounts, and segments. For example, the shared account can edit and share the Insight Tag with other accounts.
    • Accounts that will have use-only access - Restricts users on the account from granting any other accounts permission to use the Insight Tag.
Account access dropdown menus for full and use-only access
  6. Search for the account name or account ID you would like to give access permission to your Insight Tag.

    • Only accounts that you have access to will appear when searching.
    • You can only add accounts that don’t have an Insight Tag.

  7. Click Save.

Here's a tip

When a website retargeting audience list is copied over to another account that has the same Insight Tag, the website audience will continue updating to capture subsequent website visitors in the new ad account.

Review ad accounts you’ve shared your Insight Tag with

After you’ve shared your Insight Tag, you can view the list of ad accounts that have full access or use‑only access.

Why some ad accounts might not appear

If your organization uses LinkedIn’s Business Manager to manage ad accounts, you might not see every ad account you’ve shared your Insight Tag with. You’ll only see ad accounts that have both:

  • The Insight Tag shared with them
  • Belong to the same Business Manager

What to keep in mind:

  • You can share your Insight Tag with ad accounts not owned by your Business Manager.
  • However, you won’t see ad accounts that belong to other Business Managers, even if you’ve shared the Insight Tag with them.
  • The Insight Tag will still work for any ad account you’ve shared it with, even if it’s not listed.

To review other ad accounts you’ve shared the Insight Tag with, switch to the relevant Business Manager or confirm tag sharing with an admin in that Business Manager.

Important to know

Consistent with our terms, the Insight Tag should not be installed on web pages that collect or contain Sensitive Data. This can include pages offering specific health-related or financial services or products to consumers.

For example, depending on the content of the pages, the Insight Tag may be included on a generic homepage for a pharmacy or a bank, or business-to-business pages directed only to organizations and financial or healthcare professionals, but should not be included on consumer pages for certain types of medications or pages where users manage their financial accounts and transactions or medical appointments, since it could lead to the inadvertent collection and sharing of sensitive information regarding the health or finances of individuals who visited that page.

This does not constitute legal advice. Please consult with your webmaster and legal counsel to determine which pages may or may not collect sensitive data.
