Really enjoyed meeting Abe Spahn IRL and getting to have a deep meaningful conversation in Orlando this past week! Our conversation highlighted a broader challenge across the HR Tech landscape right now: In high-growth (and especially acquisition-heavy) environments, HR systems don’t scale neatly. On 3/16, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement quietly updated its guidance on I-9 inspections. https://lnkd.in/gVsnSH35 At first glance, nothing changed: same NOI process, same 3-day turnaround, same violation categories. But under the surface, enforcement is shifting in ways that materially increase employer risk. ⚠️ Technical errors are no longer “low risk” → Small issues like missing dates or signature inconsistencies are now being treated as signals of systemic failure. Patterns of minor mistakes = real fines, fast. 📊 Internal audits are increasingly important → The expectation has shifted from “be compliant if audited” to “continuously prove your system is compliant.” That means documented audits, consistent corrections, and centralized visibility across all I-9s.
