Big thanks to the team from CDL-Estonia for visiting us at VOOL! 🚀 As our CEO Juhan Härm shared during the visit: “Our solution uses the existing electrical grid three times more efficiently. We utilize all three phases and intelligently redistribute the load between them according to demand using our smart software.” We’re excited to be scaling this solution across Europe—and thankful for the support from those who were there at the start. 🙌

🌍 From Vision to Voltage: CDL-Estonia Meets VOOL in Production ⚡ It’s a rare and rewarding moment when we at CDL-Estonia Digital Society stream get to visit a graduate who’s not just innovating—but building real hardware. We had the pleasure of visiting VOOL, one of our standout graduates, who has successfully partnered with Inission Tallinn/Lagedi plant to bring their smart EV charging technology to life. As Juhan Härm shared, finding the right production partner is a journey filled with lessons—and this one is a success story in the making. 🗨️ “Our solution uses the existing electrical grid three times more efficiently... We utilize all three phases and intelligently redistribute the load between them according to demand using our smart hardware.” – Juhan VOOL is already exporting to Switzerland and targeting other European markets—just as Europe urgently needs to scale up EV charging infrastructure to catching up with growing demand. Our mentors were impressed by 💡 The potential to turn your home EV charger into a service—earning income and driving down market prices through competition! 📊 With Estonia currently among the most expensive EV charging markets in Europe, VOOL’s solution could be a game-changer. 🙏 Huge thanks to: Juhan Härm from VOOL Andrei Kislitsin & Allan Saariste from Inission Our incredible mentors and the entire CDL Estonia team for making this visit unforgettable: Chris Starling, Mihkel Tombak, Mati Otsmaa, Jamie B., Alexandra Burnham, Kertu Tombak, and Artur Kamberg! 📸 Photo by Allan Saariste #CDLEstonia #DigitalSociety #VOOL #EVcharging #SmartGrid #HardwareInnovation #CleanTech #GreenEnergy #EstonianStartups #Inission #ElectricVehicles #FutureOfMobility #Sustainability #TechForGood #StartupSuccess #MentorshipMatters #EnergyEfficiency #SmartHardware

After 3 days at Power2Drive, we’re pretty sure our feet are ready for a vacation. 😅 But...it was totally worth it. 🥳 Over the past few days, we’ve connected with many of our partners, met interesting new ones, and had the chance to tell many people about our products. Here's a quick recap of the last three days. 🚀 🍻

Another milestone to celebrate! 🎉 Scaling our OCPP server to support multiple instances means we’re ready for the growing number of chargers connecting every day. Hats off to Mikk Mangus and the server team for pulling this off with such precision at the right timing. 🙌

At VOOL we recently reached a huuge milestone of scaling our most important service "the OCPP server" to multiple instances 🎉. It is the service that every charger out there connects to. But even more importantly, this is a rather successful story about avoiding premature optimisation. It was clear from day 1 that this service needs to be able handle loads of connections but it always remained unclear if we reach multiple regions before there is a need to scale the service up within one region. Neither was it known whether there will be a limit of ports per IP address, CPU utilisation or something else hitting us first. Some time ago, we were clearly edging an incident when it was finally decided to execute the scale-up in less than a week. Over time there were many preparations implemented to make this move possible that fast. 🚀 I'm very proud to be leading that talented server team and very glad that we didn't start optimising too early. 😎 ⚙️ For those fancying some technical details: eventually the limiting factor was the CPU of a single-threaded Python program; the connections are now spread and routed using Redis and Redlock.
