World leader in data-driven medical education for orthopedics, obgyn, urology and general surgery
About us
VirtaMed believes medical education is powerfully delivered through data-driven simulation solutions. Since 2007, we have developed the leading solutions for training outside the operating room because we believe healthcare professionals should never have to perform a procedure for the first time on a patient. VirtaMed partners with medical societies and internationally renowned experts to develop standardized curricula and training courses for competency-based medical education. Healthcare professionals benefit from simulators that train cognitive and psychomotor skills in a safe, realistic and repeatable way. VirtaMed simulators use data-driven metrics to provide objective feedback and proficiency-based training. ArthroS™ provides training for diagnostic and therapeutic arthroscopic procedures for the knee, shoulder, hip, and ankle. LaparoS™ contains condensed training modules for general surgery and gynecological laparoscopy. RoboS™ is a high-fidelity robotic surgery simulator designed for independent training. GynoS™ offers practical training in hysteroscopy, obstetric and gynecological ultrasound, IUD placement, and embryo transfer. UroS™ includes patient cases for TURP, TURB, and laser BPH. SimulationOnline™ is our engaging and accessible web-based product portfolio that complements our mixed reality simulators covering the entire learning continuum. With healthcare and medical device companies, VirtaMed specializes in developing high-tech training solutions to increase medical device adoption. Combining surgical instruments with photorealistic virtual reality graphics, VirtaMed helps our customers grow their global market share by cost-effectively deploying simulation solutions that create brand preference for their devices.

An ACL tear isn’t just a “knee injury.” It’s the moment an athlete’s season ends, a skier’s fall that changes everything, or a simple misstep that suddenly makes everyday movement uncertain. ACL reconstruction is about more than repairing a ligament - it’s about giving people back their confidence to move, to trust their body again, and to return to the things they love. With ArthroS, we’re helping surgeons practice and refine these procedures in a safe, controlled environment - so when it matters most, they’re ready. Because behind every reconstruction is a person who just wants to get back on their feet.

The VirtaMed team will be at the Davos Course - one of those events that consistently brings together high-quality training and hands-on learning. You’ll be able to get practical experience with our LaparoS and RoboS simulators, explore the Proficiency Project, and engage with some of the latest developments in surgical education. A great opportunity to dive into new skills, exchange ideas, and be part of what’s next in training and simulation.

Connect is VirtaMed’s cloud-based platform for managing simulator data in one place. It gives you direct access to course and student performance without the need for manual reporting. With a clear, visual dashboard, you can monitor progress, update courses remotely, and keep track of simulator usage - from your desk or on a tablet.

🏆 Coming Soon: The 2026 ArthroS National Cup We’re kicking off something big this April 1, bringing institutions from across the U.S. together for the ArthroS National Cup, a simulation challenge focused on structured training and teamwork. Points will be earned through: • Participation – course usage • Practice – simulation attempts • Performance – top scores on selected challenges Every user can contribute, every attempt counts. To get the most out of it, we encourage prioritizing structured courses over free practice. Stay tuned - more details coming soon.

Day 2 at #EAU26 kept the momentum going at Booth T27. Today we welcomed PD Dr. med. Christoph Würnschimmel, Senior Consultant in Urology, University Teaching and Research Hospital Lucerne (LUKS), Lucerne, Switzerland to our booth for a "Meet the Expert" session, where he engaged with visitors on surgical training, simulation, and the future of proficiency-based education. He also test-drove a RehearsalOS patient case of a partial nephrectomy developed with ORSI Academy, based on an actual procedure performed at Orsi Academy. Even though being still works in progress. The feedback on the realism of the case was very encouraging. We were also pleased to have Dr. Pieter De Backer from ORSI Academy at the booth. He tested his own partial nephrectomy case on RoboS in preparation for tomorrow’s session at 4:00 PM in collaboration with Prof. Alex Mottrie, CEO of ORSI Academy, where we will explore patient-specific rehearsal and the next steps in simulation-driven surgical training. The RoboS Barbed Suturing Challenge continued with many surgeons stepping up to test their skills. Some of today’s feedback from the booth: “It feels like the real console.” “The exercises are impressive, but what we are really looking forward to is the soft tissue case and patient-specific rehearsal capabilities.” More to come tomorrow at Booth T27. #virtamed #orsiacademy #surgicalsimulation #EAU26 #robos #RehearsalOS

See how surgeons can rehearse a real patient case before entering the operating room: Prof. Alex Mottrie will perform a simulated partial nephrectomy based on an actual clinical case. This demonstration highlights a capability currently in development by VirtaMed in collaboration with ORSI: patient-specific surgical rehearsal. The goal is to help experienced surgeons prepare for complex procedures and support less experienced surgeons in building confidence before operating. Stop by Booth T27 on Sunday afternoon to see this emerging approach to surgical preparation in action.

Over all four days of EAU26, we’re hosting a live Advanced Suturing competition. Participants will be evaluated on: • Safety • Accuracy • Speed Choose your category: • Novice: Never been first operator in a robot-assisted surgery • Intermediate:1–50 cases as first operator • Experienced: More than 50 cases as first operator Visit Booth T27 and take on the challenge! Compete against peers in your category and win exciting prizes. Up to two attempts per day per participant.
