3D laser scanning gets a lot of attention as a tool in construction, and for good reason. One example from our portfolio is the stunning 261-room Ritz-Carlton Resort in Half Moon Bay, CA. Set atop a coastal bluff, it is closely monitored for soil erosion that could pose a risk to both guest safety and structural integrity over time. Using high-definition 3D laser scans, our Onsite QC team captured detailed data of the cliff face, the Ritz-Carlton building, and the multi-column support structure embedded within the terrain. We translated the scans into detailed 2D As-Built Line Drawings and compared them with datasets from previous years to identify signs of erosion or geological change. 🎯The outcome: 3D laser scanning enabled us to accurately and precisely capture site conditions while ensuring no disruption or damage to the facility or surrounding terrain.
