AI adoption is moving fast. The foundation underneath it isn’t. Clio reports 93% AI adoption among mid-sized firms, but only 38% are using legal practice management software. That mismatch explains a lot of what we’re seeing: AI shows up everywhere, but real leverage shows up nowhere. In this month’s Legal Tech Forward, I break down a simple shift: Stop debating which AI to pick. Start designing where AI should sit across your stack.

LexWorkplace January update: Search just got a lot easier. Here’s what’s new: • Search Result Tabs: Run one search, then switch results by tab (Documents, Emails, Matter Notes, or All). • Search by File Type/Extension: Filter document results by type (PDF, DOCX, XLSX, and more). • Cleaner Results Layout: Results are easier to scan, so you can spot the right item faster. • Document Search Mode: Choose Name + Content or Name Only depending on how broad you want your search to be. • Top Matters Improvements: “Top Matters” is now collapsible and remembers your preference. Bonus: The LexWorkplace Launcher also got a refresh, with the same activity visibility plus quicker paths to common actions. Less digging. Faster answers. Back to work. Smart Search is live in LexWorkplace. This update is all about cutting down the “where is that file?” time, so your team can move faster when you’re juggling Clients, Matters, and documents. Here’s what’s new: ✅ One universal search bar to jump to Clients, Matters, Documents, or even Settings (try searching “tags”) ✅ Clearer search results with better context (so you’re not guessing which Matter you’re looking at) ✅ Trash Bin improvement: rename documents in the Trash without restoring them first Small change, big day-to-day payoff. The most expensive problems in a law firm are the quiet ones — the minutes lost to bad tech every single day. I see the same pattern over and over again. • A bit of duplicate entry. • A manual workaround someone created years ago. • Fixing an error caused by two systems that don’t talk to each other. Individually, it feels harmless. Across a year, it’s real money and real lost time. And here’s what I’ve learned: When your tools talk to each other, everything in the firm just feels easier. • Faster workflows. • Fewer errors. • Less friction for everyone involved. Your team can focus on clients instead of fixing software problems. The firms that get ahead do one thing differently: They map the workflow first — then choose the tools that fit it. When your tools talk to each other, everything in the firm just feels easier. #legaltech #lawfirmtechnology #lawfirms #legalsoftware

If your team has ever said “I swear AI made this harder, not easier,” you’re in the right place. Today we’re launching Legal Tech Forward — a monthly look at how leading law firms keep their tech running smoothly instead of spending half the day putting out fires. Real insights, real stories, and real lessons from the trenches of legal IT and software modernization.

We’ve added a central Trash Bin to LexWorkplace. • One place to see deleted Clients, Matters, Documents, Email, and Notes • Sort and filter on each tab to find items quickly • Restore items or permanently delete them (cannot be undone) • Activity tab records who started a permanent delete, start and finish times, and counts by type You’ll find Trash Bin in the left navigation. Open LexWorkplace and take a look. https://lnkd.in/gUTHubXg

Legal technology is evolving quickly. That’s exactly where we want to be. When we started developing LexWorkplace, we were hearing the same message from firms across the board. - Their document management systems were outdated. - The tools they relied on weren’t keeping up with how they worked. - And most legal DMS options were too complex, too rigid, or not built with legal professionals in mind. We decided to build a better option. Something secure, easy to use, and aligned with how modern law firms actually work. LexWorkplace is now in the hands of real firms. It’s helping teams manage their documents, emails, and matters in one place. It’s growing steadily, and the feedback has been clear. Firms are ready for something that fits how they work today. Looking ahead, we’re continuing to invest in this platform. We’re exploring ways to integrate AI, expand features, and make it even more intuitive for the people who rely on it every day. LexWorkplace is a major focus for our team. It reflects where legal tech is going, and it reflects where we are going as a company. We’re committed to building tools that move this industry forward. #LegalTech #LawFirmTechnology #LegalInnovation #AIinLegal #LegalSoftware
