  • Last night at the Nelson Mandela Foundation in Johannesburg, Monique Nelson stood at the podium and made it official: Johannesburg will host the inaugural BLACKWEEK Africa in November 2026. Nelson, Executive Chair of UWG INC. and Co-Founder of BLACKWEEK, was joined by Dr. Mbongiseni Buthelezi, CEO of the Nelson Mandela Foundation, and Preetesh Sewraj, CEO of The Loeries, for an evening exploring what it means to build a platform that connects Africa’s creative economy with the global Black diaspora. The conversation touched on culture, commerce, and legacy, themes made even more powerful in a venue dedicated to preserving Mandela’s life and work. Blackweek, which has established itself as a major cultural and economic moment in the U.S., now expands to the continent. UWG INC. will serve as the host company for BLACKWEEK Africa, working in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Foundation, The Loeries, and leaders across Africa’s creative and business landscape. This announcement marks a meaningful step in connecting Black creative and economic communities across continents, not as separate movements, but as a shared and evolving global story. • BLACKWEEK 2025 was a powerful reminder of what happens when culture, community, and purpose come together. Hearing UWG INC. Executive Chair and BLACKWEEK Co-Founder Monique Nelson reflect on a sold-out year and the importance of human-centered leadership grounded the entire week. “Humanity matters. Real people matter. Don’t let the noise fool you.” Here’s to the work, the impact, and the next chapter ahead. 🖤
