April may be ending, but the work of preventing child abuse continues. Earlier this month, TexProtects and United Way for Greater Austin joined community members, partners and policymakers on the steps of the Texas State Capitol to reaffirm a shared commitment to protecting children before harm occurs. Texas Department of Family and Protective Services Commissioner Audrey O'Neill welcomed attendees and shared a proclamation from Governor Greg Abbott recognizing April as Child Abuse Prevention Month. TexProtects CEO Adrianna Cuellar Rojas stressed that keeping children safe requires sustained advocacy, smart policy and investment in prevention. The event ended with pinwheel planting, a national symbol of hope and a promise that every child deserves a safe, stable and nurturing environment. As Child Abuse Prevention Month comes to a close, let’s keep prevention visible. Share this post, learn about programs that strengthen families and advocate for policies that put children first, this month and all year long. #ChildAbusePreventionMonth #PreventionWorks #StrongFamilies #ProtectTexasKids #UnitedistheWay

We unite our community to identify and solve our most critical issues.
About us
We believe every man, woman, and child deserves an opportunity for a good life. This means our children have a safe and healthy start in life; our students stay in school and graduate; we do all we can to strengthen individual and family well-being; and we provide a safety net of emergency assistance for our neighbors in need. Many large, complex issues stand in the way of a good life for many members of our community. No single agency or organization, public or private, can tackle these issues alone. United is the way we create positive change. At United Way, we work every day to increase the organized capacity of people to care for one another. We are a “uniter,” bringing people together to improve people’s lives in our community so they are able to live stable, independent lives and flourish.
