Ulstein was awarded the redesign and engineering contract for the ULSTEIN SX121 vessel, where the inclining test represents one of the key deliverables. The work carried out highlights how deep insight into a vessel’s operational history is essential when transforming complex assets into safe, class‑approved solutions. Through our aftermarket services, we stand alongside owners and operators as vessels evolve, supporting complex conversions with engineering expertise, precision and confidence at every step. 👉 Read more about how we keep this vessel fit for new missions: https://lnkd.in/eeBSfTbh

😎 𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲! Three of our finest are heading to Miami to attend the Seatrade Cruise Global conference next week, from 13 to 16 April. Their suitcases are packed to the brim with cruise design expertise, ready to share their knowledge and engage in insightful discussions. Find them at the Norwegian pavilion, (no 1239). Hopefully, our trio has found their proper shoes by then! PS! Why not challenge them on why the X-BOW design is beneficial for both guests and crew on cruise ships? PPS! Thursday, 16 April, 11:15 AM, Chief Designer Øyvind Gjerde Kamsvåg is holding a presentation on how a certain design change transformed expedition cruising. Listen in and join the discussions. Together, we're 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆. 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐞𝐥 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨? 🚢 Most vessels run generators at fixed speeds, even when demand is low. That means wasted fuel, higher emissions, and unnecessary costs. 𝗩𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 (VSG) systems change that. They deliver only 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱, 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝘁. The result? Smarter operations, lower fuel consumption, and greener voyages. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗮 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗹 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀? You prepare, you plan, you work together, and you test. A lot. 👩🔬 Recently, Ulstein’s new cable‑laying vessel design was put through large‑scale model testing at the SINTEF Ocean basin. By testing it in real waves in a controlled environment, we can see how the design behaves long before anything is built. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁? Exactly what we want: solid data, predictable behaviour, and no surprises. With physical model testing, we can: ☑️ see how the vessel moves and handles wave impacts in low‑speed operations ☑️ check seakeeping, speed needs and bollard pull ☑️ confirm how well the roll‑reduction tanks work ☑️ spot challenges early ☑️ give customers and partners clear, trustworthy documentation 🗨️ Elisabeth Masdal Hovden, Senior Engineer Hydrodynamics at Ulstein, sums it up well: “𝘗𝘩𝘺𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘮𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘭 𝘵𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘪𝘮𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦. 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘶𝘴 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘧𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘯 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮 𝘢𝘴 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭‑𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴.” This is how trust is built. Not by guessing, but by using real data. 🤖 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱 Unmanned platforms and large-scale remotely operated offshore installations still feel a bit like science fiction, but they're real. 🚢 A central part of the operating model for the Yggdrasil oil & gas field is the use of unmanned platforms combined with Walk‑to‑Work (W2W) vessels.
