#UCSB has found a way to keep engineering majors on track. Researchers have found that across the country, almost 50% of students who start college as engineering majors, switch before graduating. To bridge that gap, UCSB's Elizabeth Belding and colleagues created the Integrated Networking, Scholarship and Peer Interaction for First-Year Engineers (INSPIRE) program. Funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) , the program provides support and introduces students to the college and mentors.
