Lake levels across the Tennessee Valley continue to be impacted by ongoing drought conditions. James Everett, General Manager of River Management, explains what we’re seeing across our lakes and rivers, and what to expect as we head into summer. Even with some recent rain, not all of that water is reaching our lakes. As a result, levels are lower than what we typically see this time of year. You can still enjoy time on the water - we encourage everyone to plan ahead and stay mindful of changing conditions. Stay up to date on lake levels anytime at http://tva.me/gl5250YTx7U or through the TVA Lake Info app.

Serving the Tennessee Valley through Energy, Environment, and Economic Development.
About us
For more than nine decades, the Tennessee Valley Authority has provided affordable electricity, environmental stewardship and economic development opportunities to the Tennessee Valley. TVA was established by Congress in 1933 to address a wide range of environmental, economic and technological issues, including the need for low-cost electricity, and navigation and flood control along the Tennessee River system. TVA is fully self-financing, funding virtually all operations through electricity sales and power system bond financing. TVA makes no profit and receives no tax money. TVA’s power service territory includes most off Tennessee and parts of Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina and Virginia, covering 80,000 square miles and providing electricity to 10 million people at prices below the national average, TVA sales electricity to 153 local power companies and 61 directly served customers, including 54 industrial customers and 7 military and federal installations. Mission: TVA was built for the people – to improve the quality of life in a seven-state region through the integrated management of the region’s resources. The mission focuses on three key areas: • Energy – To provide reliable, affordable electric power throughout the Tennessee Valley. • Environment – To be a steward of the region’s natural resources. • Economic Development – To serve as a catalyst for sustainable economic development. ENERGY: As the nation’s largest government-owned power provider, TVA delivers reliable, competitively priced electricity local power companies and major industrial customers and federal installations. ENVIRONMENT: The Tennessee Valley Authority is committed to limiting the environmental impact of its operations and protecting the natural resources of the region. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: TVA helps strengthen the regional economy by building partnerships with communities and the business sector to foster job growth and retention.

Watts Bar Nuclear Unit 1 has completed a crucial step in its scheduled maintenance and refueling outage—offloading fuel from the reactor core. ⚛️ Highly skilled employees and contractors work safely to remove all 193 fuel assemblies during the refueling process, storing them in the spent fuel pool, where they stay until reactor core reload. Watts Bar operates two nuclear units, each producing about 1,200 megawatts of electricity, enough to power 1.3 million homes! #NuclearEnergy

Check out this view 👀 What you’re seeing is inside a scrubber at Cumberland Fossil Plant—a place that’s tough for crews to access. That’s where our drone pilots come in. By taking inspections airborne, we improve safety, reduce downtime, and keep operations running efficiently. It’s all part of our spring prep to make sure we’re ready for the hot summer temperatures! ☀️

Cherokee Dam celebrated its 84th anniversary this month, so we are taking a look back at the work that made it happen! Located in East Tennessee, Cherokee Dam was built in just 16 months to generate power to support the war effort during WWII. Today, it continues to play a vital role in generating power for our region, providing flood control, and serving as a top fishing spot for anglers looking for their next catch! 🎣 #TBT
