🌟 The future of inclusive teaching is bright, and already taking shape in schools! On 21 November, the TUTOR Final Conference, "Inclusive Teaching in Practice: Strengthening Teacher Capacity Across Europe", took place at the EVBB VET House in Brussels, bringing together educators, researchers and policymakers to celebrate what TUTOR has achieved, and the positive results already felt in classrooms, while looking ahead to what inclusive teaching needs next across Europe. We heard a shared message throughout the day: inclusion works best when it is intersectional, holistic, and backed by ongoing support for teachers. Victoria Topalidi (AKMI International) opened with the project’s vision, and later returned to share the pilot experience and outcomes, showing how teachers benefited from the trainings and mobilities. Bernie Grummell (Maynooth University) highlighted how research and teacher voices shaped TUTOR, and Leonidas Gomatos (School of Pedagogical and Technological Education) showcased the joint curriculum now equipping teachers to respond to diverse learners, including migrant-background students, LGBTQI+ learners and those facing socio-economic disadvantage. These ideas were then brought to life through two panels, first from the classroom, then from policy. 💡 Panel 1: Educators’ testimonies — what inclusion looks like in everyday teaching, moderated by Maynooth University 🎤 Ann Burns — Cork Education and Training Board 🎤 Lukas Maximilian Mayr — University of Graz 🎤 Ömer Güleç - Serik Borsa İstanbul Tourism Vocational High School 🎤 Zoi Belli — 2nd Vocational High School of Evosmos Following this panel, Anna Eisenberger — ÖJAB – Österreichische JungArbeiterBewegung / Austrian Young Workers Movement, shared additional project testimonials, reinforcing the tangible impact teachers reported through the programme. 💡 Panel 2: Policy dialogue — how Europe can sustain and scale inclusive practice, moderated by the European Vocational Training Association - EVTA 🎤 Nuria Diez Guardia — DG EAC, European Commission 🎤 Paulo César Martins (he/him/his) — ATEE Association Teacher Education 🎤 Ekaterina Efimenko — European Trade Union Committee for Education ETUCE-CSEE 🎤 Annet De Vroey — European Agency for Special Needs and Inclusive Education 🎤 Veronica Arduino — Lifelong Learning Platform - European Civil Society for Education The conference closed with Victoria reminding us that inclusive education grows when teachers, institutions and policymakers move forward together.
