A forest on the brink became a source of hope 🌱 In Ethiopia’s Metema region, an ancient frankincense forest was at risk of extinction. Deforestation and unsustainable tapping had pushed this vital tree to the brink. But this has changed. With support from match funding through the UK government, our Future Forest project worked hand in hand with local people to protect the forest and build stronger livelihoods, leaving it healthier and more resilient for communities of the future. Altogether, this project achieved: 🌳 2,571 trees grown 👥 3,014 people supported 🧑🌾 Over 35,000 hectares sustainably managed Find out more 👉 https://lnkd.in/eHGKva8j

We're part of a new consortium supporting refugees and host communities in Uganda and Rwanda to launch reforestation and clean cooking programmes in partnership with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, Farm Africa, CIFOR-ICRAF, BB Energy, HAMERKOP Climate Impacts and Fairventures Worldwide gGmbH. Gécica YOGO, Nature-Based Solutions and Carbon Manager at Tree Aid, said: “Delivering high-quality, high-integrity carbon projects requires strong data and genuine community-led restoration. This coalition brings together complementary expertise to address both emissions and landscape restoration in a practical way with communities at the heart.
