SC S&OP or SC SLOP? That is the question that plagues end evaluators of supply chain technology today. On May 2nd, Jon Kirkegaard will join a special episode of the Supply UnChained Podcast to cover topics that have somehow become controversial in our industry, including: 1. How Planning was never "The Goal". Economic Value Creation from the synchronization of assets and human capital is the answer to create value 2. Plans are not supposed to be "top down", but decentralized...and aggregated & disaggregated based on organizational roles....just like the assembly of a Boeing plane 3. How Big Supply Chain Tech stopped being your friends in 2005 when their goals shifted from solving your problem to vendor lock in and SaaS metrics 4. Spreadsheets are not evil. They actually contain more "operational truth", which is why over 90% of work is still done via spreadsheets, email, and chat. What is missing is the assembly of existing data sources, and how DCRA Inc. can help. 5. Heterogeneous data & platforms that allowed for different time and different place activities were nearly abandoned in the tech world around 2005, and why they need to be brought back now. 6. What the "Missing Link" is to make ERP, planning, scheduling, and spreadsheet communication better...and his latest patents that are used by industrial businesses today 7. Solutions are not that complicated, if you are ready to believe in people and not black box technology. 8. AI has some promise matching patterns faster, but relies on traditional math, physics, Operations Research...but none of it works without in sync data 9. The first priority should be to sync the ecosystem data and solve the "request and promise" part. 10. Supply Chain is not functional. You cannot go to business school, learn some stuff, and apply it to a silo, and call it optimization. Supply chain is about demand and supply flow balancing against the required resources & assets. That is material flow balancing. 11. The US needs to go back to "Adam Smith" Invisible Hand coordination with existing tech...or risk losing the "Productivity Race" 12. Supply Chain Change Management happens "Bottom People Up" to deliver "Top Down ROA, ROE, IRR" It is a lot to unpack, so we will leave ample time for questions & examples after a quick 30 minute walk-through.
