About us
Think Equal works towards a world in which children of all genders, ethnicities, religions and other backgrounds have optimal opportunities to develop their full potential, have their views respected, respect one another, live free of discrimination and violence, become youth leaders, and active participants of a free and equal world. Our purpose is to add social and emotional learning as a compulsory component of education curricula around the world, starting from the first day of every child’s formal education. We aim for a system change in education by bringing a new subject into schools, from the Early Years, when the child’s personality and moral framework is still developing. We must ensure that our children’s hearts are educated, and not just their heads. Education – and equal access to it – is a long-standing goal of the UN and a number of progressive governments across the world. Think Equal is not an attempt to address the issue of access to education, rather it is concerned with contents and quality of education, in pursuance of changing a dominant mind set. Think Equal is a global initiative which constructs and delivers an equality studies curriculum, that is as fundamental as literacy and numeracy. We must commit to a holistic approach to education which will result in a new generation of equal thinkers – global citizens – who can rise to the challenges of the 21st century.

It was a privilege to be in Seychelles this month with, Think Equal Global Programmes Director AMEA Priyanka Devani, to support the official launch of Think Equal in partnership with the Ministry of Education & Human Resource Development. Moments like these reflect the part of my work I value most: partnering with Ministries of Education and senior government leaders to strengthen education systems in practical and sustainable ways. From curriculum integration and teacher capacity strengthening to implementation planning and long-term institutional ownership, meaningful change happens when programmes are embedded within wider system reform. During the visit, we had the opportunity to engage with ministry leadership and technical stakeholders on the national rollout of social and emotional learning in the early childhood education, orient Head Teachers in preparation for implementation, and train 36 Master Trainers who will cascade training to teachers delivering the programme in their classrooms. What stood out most was the shared commitment to building an education system that supports not only academic learning, but also children’s wellbeing, inclusion, empathy, and holistic development. I am proud to contribute to work at the intersection of education leadership, systems strengthening, and government partnership across Africa. Thank you to the Ministry for your leadership, trust, and collaboration. Me entusiasma mucho compartirles de lo afortunada que me siento de colaborar con Tania Bañuelos y el equipo de Think Equal en un proyecto que busca traducir material educativo a lenguas originarias de México dentro de un programa global de educación socioemocional. Como comunicóloga latinoamericana, este proyecto tiene un significado especial para mí. No solo por el reto profesional que implica, sino por la oportunidad de contribuir —desde el lenguaje y la comunicación— a que más niñeces accedan a contenidos educativos en su propia lengua y desde su propio contexto cultural. Reconocer y fortalecer la diversidad lingüística también es una forma de avanzar hacia una educación más justa y representativa. Agradecida de ser parte de este esfuerzo colectivo.

No hay nada tan poderoso como ver el mundo a través de los ojos de un niño —o del docente que lo guía. Estamos profundamente conmovidos por los testimonios recientes de las educadoras que participan en el programa Think Equal. Desde las aulas de Castilla-La Mancha, las docentes comparten historias de un cambio profundo. Los niños están aprendiendo a usar su voz para expresar lo que sienten , cambiando los conflictos por "gestos bonitos" e incluso construyendo casitas para los insectos del patio al desarrollar empatía por todos los seres vivos.
