Feb 5–6, I attended the #ECSBrokerage2026 in Brussels, for SYSGO – Embedding Innovations. Really well organized, ~800 attendees, a lot of familiar faces (food was better than last year, also!). Take-outs: Edge‑AI is a thing, a big thing. It seems that Europe is drifting away from big AI/LLM models (energy‑consuming and monolithic, plus the EU is left behind) and is focusing on Edge‑AI and tailor‑made fittings and applications for specific needs (green, low-energy, effective). Quantum‑cryptography and quantum‑resistant systems are another big thing. In two years, all systems in the EU have to be quantum‑resistant, so the word “quantum” was definitely the popular word of #ECSBrokerage2026. Hint for food for thought: The project pitches have become “too many”. An individual does not have enough time anymore to see and discuss in front of each one. Some of them are obviously just trying to lure big EU-players and look more like “wishful thinking”.
