Working on my tennis game and spending more time with LLMs this year has reminded me how much you can gain by varying your inputs. Doing the work yourself teaches one set of lessons, and watching others tackle the same problem teaches another. Beyond picking up a new sport, that mix of practice and observation has paid off in other ways. As an engineer and founder building tools for finance leaders, hands-on exposure to LLMs has helped me form a stronger mental model of how they behave, where they fall short, and where they fit best in day-to-day workflows. Here are a few reflections on working with AI in the past year and what I think 2026 might bring for finance teams.

  • Modern teams rely on Controllers to keep systems stable, spot risks early, and create the conditions for faster decisions across the business. The Future-Ready B2B SaaS Controller playbook maps out how to build that kind of operation: stronger foundations, cleaner data flows, targeted automation, and a wider strategic lane as the company scales. ➡️ Get the playbook here: https://lnkd.in/gfBvD5NR

  • Planning a billing system upgrade in 2026? Before you commit to a vendor, make sure the platform can flex with your pricing model, contracts, revenue rules, and scale. Too many teams get stuck with rigid systems that are difficult to unwind. We put together a Buyer’s Guide to help B2B SaaS finance leaders evaluate the top contenders and validate their capabilities. • Choosing billing software is high-stakes. Once contracts, invoices, and revenue schedules are in motion, the wrong platform can slow cash, create compliance risk, and bury your team in constant cleanup. That’s why we put together a Buyer’s Guide specifically for B2B SaaS finance leaders. It unpacks vendor claims and focuses on functionality that actually moves the needle. If you’re evaluating billing software for 2026, this will help you stress-test each option before you commit. 🔗 Link in comments.

  • Today is Subscript’s birthday 🎉 Five years ago, we started with a simple goal: help B2B SaaS finance leaders get a clean, reliable view of their subscription metrics without juggling dozens of spreadsheets. Since then, we’ve expanded to automate billing and revenue recognition, supporting the complexity and edge cases that finance teams navigate every day as they scale. While this is a special milestone for Subscript, we’re also celebrating the growth and success of our customers, the partners building alongside us, and the dedicated team members who make it all happen. 🙌 We’re grateful to share this journey with you!

The demands on Controllers keep rising, and the teams that stay ahead are the ones treating their operations like a system to be designed, tested, and improved. The Future-Ready B2B SaaS Controller playbook breaks down that approach: how to build a solid foundation, automate with discipline, and expand your strategic influence as the business grows. 💪 Find it here: https://lnkd.in/gJPGJXQ3

“Do we hire for this workflow, or finally automate it?” This question is coming up a lot as teams plan 2026 headcount, and finance isn’t an exception. Here's a simple way to think about it: If you can turn the workflow into an SOP, you can probably automate it. A few other signs point in the same direction: - The knowledge required to do the task can be written down. If you can document how a new hire would learn it, an AI agent can learn it, too. - The task happens constantly. Dozens or hundreds of times a month is exactly the kind of volume that makes automation worthwhile. - The role turns over quickly. If the average tenure is under 12 months, you're in a perpetual onboarding cycle. Teaching an agent once is often far cheaper than training multiple new hires. Even tasks that rely on judgment are viable. LLMs have surprisingly good judgment, especially when the context is clear. Where are you seeing the biggest opportunities to take repetitive work off your team’s plate?

Controllers are responsible for decision-grade information and the systems that produce it. As business models become more complex, the role is increasingly judged by how well operations scale, not just how fast the close runs. The Future-Ready B2B SaaS Controller playbook outlines how to strengthen your skill stack and stay ahead as expectations rise from leadership and investors. ➡️ Find it here: https://lnkd.in/g36frsbK

Many B2B SaaS companies still rely on outdated billing and analytics systems that can’t keep up with growth and complexity. Manual processes and limited visibility slow finance teams and make scaling harder than it should be. Subscript was built to solve this problem. Its platform unifies billing, revenue recognition, and reporting that scales alongside your business, no matter how complex. Finance and operations teams get a complete view of their recurring revenue and metrics in real time. For CFOs, finance leaders, and operators, the benefits are clear: - Eliminate legacy billing and analytics tools with one connected platform. - Automate revenue recognition and reporting for full accuracy and compliance. - Gain real-time visibility into ARR, NRR, and cash flow performance. - Scale seamlessly across hybrid and usage-based models. At the Next Gen Solution Showcase, November 18–19, Subscript will demonstrate how its unified platform helps modern finance teams automate billing, simplify revenue recognition, and make data-driven decisions faster. Join on November 18th to see Subscript and other leading solutions in action with practical frameworks for modern finance operations.
