A Smart TV device lab sounds simple until you try to scale it. Real coverage means: ✅ older models that are hard to source ✅ lots of physical devices to manage ✅ remote access, power control, network setup ✅ ongoing maintenance, updates and replacements Most teams can build a small lab. Few can keep it reliable and broad enough over time. If you need coverage across multiple platforms and generations, it can be more practical to use a shared lab and focus your time on delivery. Want a quick sanity check on your coverage plan? Send us a message. #SmartTV #SmartTVTesting #AppTesting #QA #OTT #DeviceLab

This is perfect post to share my thoughts from last week Connected TV World Summit 2026 at London. - Telco TV operators finally see there is population beside their existing STB audience. - Usage of smarttv will be growing in long term while STB usage is not growing. - However STB users are orrering more static income to the operators, especially when looking subscribers lifetime revenue. - Smart TV or Direct-to-TV approach may give additional 10% extra reach and that number is expected to be growing. - The best monetization of Smart TV would be thru partnerships between Operator and TV manufacturers. - They can find mutual benefit, when they both give and take, to be stronger on global OTT competition space. Now I am heading to Amsterdam for DVB World to meet more colleagues from broadcast industry and hear latest gossip about DVB-I.
𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐞? When memory costs climb, set-top boxes get expensive fast. Higher BOM, tighter margins, supply chain risk, and the added burden of installs and support all stack up. That’s why many operators are reassessing the role of the box. With TVkey Cloud, you can reduce reliance on set-top boxes, lower operational costs, and scale across connected TVs while keeping your brand dominant on the big screen. And you don’t have to trade simplicity for protection. TVkey Cloud is built with premium security in mind, so you can move faster without compromising content security. 👉 Click for more info: https://kdlski.co/4sJXej7 #NAGRAVISION #TVkeyCloud #ConnectedTV #PayTV #SetTopBox #DeviceEconomics #MemoryCosts #ContentProtection #StreamingSecurity #DirectToTV #MediaTech

Great to see HbbTV 2.0.5 published. As a DVB member, we're especially interested in the tighter DVB-I integration and what it means for real-world Smart TV deployments. The clarifications around service list-linked applications and GDPR consent flows are practical improvements that directly affect how OTT and hybrid TV platforms are built and maintained. Good to see the standard evolving based on actual implementation experience. 👏
We've released #HbbTV 2.0.5! The new version strengthens the open standard with full #DRM and #WebAssembly support and enhanced #DVB-I integration. https://lnkd.in/deSXse4B

A good Smart TV device lab is not about having the newest TVs. It is about coverage. Smart TV app testing breaks in places emulators do not catch: 📺 different brands and operating systems 📺 big performance gaps between generations 📺 issues that show up only on specific physical devices If you want predictable releases, include older and lower-end models, enable remote access and keep the lab maintained. If you are planning your device mix or scaling testing across platforms, read this: https://lnkd.in/dSHaPPs3 #SmartTV #SmartTVTesting #AppTesting #QA #OTT

OSNtv on Samsung Smart TV without a set-top box. What was actually launched? OSNtv is now live on Samsung Smart TVs with a model that delivers a full set-top box level experience directly on the TV. Here’s what that means in practice and why it matters for operators. 🔹 Linear TV and on-demand in one unified interface. Viewers get live channels and catch-up and VOD in a seamless experience. 🔹 Integrated into the TV experience, not just another “app”. It behaves as part of the TV’s core environment, enabling faster access and stronger engagement. 🔹 Built on industry standards and commercial TV platform technologies (HbbTV Operator Application and TVkey Cloud). The Operator Application framework enables deep TV integration and branding, while TVkey Cloud provides secure subscriber authentication and content protection without additional hardware. 🔹 Reduced complexity and cost. Removing the need for set-top boxes lowers distribution costs and simplifies operations and support. 🔹 Future-ready approach. The Operator Application model can be extended to other supported Smart TV ecosystems. Operator Applications are changing how pay TV and streaming services are delivered on modern TVs. They enable operator-grade experiences directly on the TV without additional hardware. See our recent OSNtv press release in the first comment.
