It hits differently when Smarkk is recognised on stage by His Excellency Eng. Abdulrahman Abdulmohsen AlFadley, Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture (وزارة البيئة والمياه والزراعة) and Dr. Abdulaziz Almalik. The recognition belongs as much to our clients. Without the trust they place in Smarkk to execute alongside them, none of this can happen. When I started Smarkk, I reached out to my client and friend at the time, Rami Al-Ghamdi with a wild idea of him joining me in setting up Smarkk as a new breed of a consulting company that rolls it's sleeves up, executes alongside with the client, and touches impact. Rami at the time was with Public Investment Fund (PIF) with previously positions with Ministry of Tourism of Saudi Arabia, وزارة الثقافة Ministry of Culture, and MonshaatSA. To my surprise, he said yes and the rest is history. Today, Rami Al-Ghamdi is my partner and a brother that is, as relentlessly as me, driving Smarkk to new levels of success.

  • AI won't replace your team, but it will fundamentally reshape the way you've structured it. Instead of "how do we cut costs with AI?" the real question is: "how do we redesign our teams to unlock value beyond cost cutting?" Smarkk has broken it down: → How AI is reshaping the traditional organizational pyramid → What roles get automated or augmented → What AI guardrails every enterprise needs → Where the real AI opportunity lies Enterprises that will win in the AI era aren't the ones that replace people with AI, they're the ones that reinvest in their people to work alongside it. What's your team's AI adoption journey looking like?

Yesterday at the MEWA Innovation Forum (NXT) in Riyadh, I had the privilege of moderating “From Science to Scale: Building Saudi Arabia’s EWA Innovation Ecosystem” on the Main Stage. A 45-minute conversation across the four pillars shaping the Kingdom’s Energy, Water, and Agriculture agenda — national RDI strategy, innovation enablement, foundational research, and talent development — with three distinguished panelists: 🔹 Thamer Algohfaily — Manager, Innovation & Modern Technologies, Ministry of Environment, Water & Agriculture 🔹 Yazeed Alsufyani — CEO & General Partner, IB Ventures 🔹 Abdullah Al Rasheed — Saudi green Rasheed — Senior Manager, Saudi Greenhouses Key takeaways: 1. The policy–capital–operator triangle is closing. The distance between what MEWA prioritizes, what Saudi VCs are willing to underwrite, and what operators can actually deploy on the ground is shrinking faster than most regional markets. That alignment is the real ecosystem signal. 2. Saudi founders are being built for global competitiveness, not just local relevance. The enablement infrastructure — from procurement pathways to pilot environments — is maturing into something that can produce companies, not just projects. 3. Talent is the binding constraint, and everyone knows it. Strategy, capital, and research can be accelerated. A generation of EWA engineers, scientists, and operators cannot. This is where the next decade will be won or lost. When a delegation arrives in Riyadh in 2030 to study Saudi EWA innovation, I suspect they won’t come for any single technology. They’ll come to study how a country accelerated the evolution of the full ecosystem. Grateful to MEWA for convening this conversation and to the panelists for their candor. Proud to have represented Smarkk on this stage. #MEWA #NXT2026 #SaudiArabia #Innovation #AgriTech #WaterSecurity #Vision2030 وزارة البيئة والمياه والزراعة

  • 64% of patented inventions never reach the market. The gap between a research breakthrough and a viable product involves a series of technical and commercial "valleys of death"; scientific barriers that prevent concepts from being proven, engineering challenges that block ideas from becoming viable products, and commercial obstacles that stop validated solutions from ever reaching the market. In our latest article, we unpack the framework, the lifecycle, and the economic evidence behind getting this right. What's the biggest bottleneck holding back research commercialization in your sector? Read More: https://lnkd.in/dZinKY5E

  • Culinary innovation spans research, prototyping, pilot scaling, and commercialization. Each stage demands purpose-built infrastructure, from food innovation labs and pilot plants to sensory and science analysis facilities. Global leaders have shown that purpose-built, lifecycle-aligned infrastructure is what transforms culinary innovation into commercial results. KSA's Culinary Innovation Labs are building that foundation. Does your city have the needed food innovation spaces?

  • The GCC has built one of the most advanced water systems in the world. More than 400 desalination plants. Roughly 60% of global desalination capacity. Production costs that have fallen by over 90% in four decades. That is a remarkable achievement. But as water systems mature, the focus shifts from how much water is produced to how well the entire system is managed, measured, and sustained over time. In the below article we explored what ESG dimensions for the water sector looks like, and why the GCC is well placed to lead this shift. Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/dTHdpCna

AI success is not about deploying tools - it’s about redesigning the enterprise around them. While most enterprises are experimenting with AI, many struggle to integrate it into their business and operating models. Why? Because scaling AI requires more than pilots. It requires: • Strategic alignment • Strong governance • Robust data & IT foundations Different rollout models attempt to bridge this gap, but corporate transformation remains the model capable of structurally addressing all three.
