Hardware evolves fast. The tests that validate it often don't. Our latest blog breaks down how CI/CD principles can close that gap, keeping validation versioned, automated, and in sync with every build. Read more: https://lnkd.in/gePhBTpH

Sift Is For Telemetry
About us
Sift is transforming how modern machines are built and operated. Our platform goes beyond traditional monitoring, enabling automated data review that catches unusual conditions in systems too complex for manual checks. This not only enhances reliability but also dramatically speeds up development cycles. At our core, we provide a unified solution for ingesting, storing, and analyzing vast amounts of machine data. By combining powerful data processing with easy-to-use visualizations, we help engineers make sense of enormous amounts of information. From spacecraft to self-driving cars, Sift is the backbone of innovation for companies pushing technology to new limits. Born from the challenges of spaceflight, SIFT aims to accelerate technological progress. We believe that by giving engineers better tools to understand and improve their creations, we can unlock a new era of innovation. Our mission goes beyond solving today's engineering problems; we're building the foundation for a future where the most ambitious machines are developed with confidence, run with precision, and constantly improved. We're also tackling related challenges like simplifying regulatory compliance, and improving manufacturing processes. By connecting data from various sources—from sensors to manufacturing records to regulatory requirements—we're empowering a new generation of engineers to build the technologies that will shape our world. Join us in our journey to usher in this new age of reliable, groundbreaking technology. Whether you're launching rockets, developing autonomous systems, or advancing energy and transportation, SIFT is your partner in turning vast amounts of data into insights that drive innovation forward.

How many companies never made it because they couldn't learn fast enough from their failures? SpaceX barely survived to a fourth launch. Sift exists so teams don't need four tries to get it right. Software teams have had great tools for years. Hardware teams are still stuck with spreadsheets and workarounds. We raised $42M to change that. Sift gives engineers building the most complex machines on earth one place to see, understand, and act on their data. Grateful to StepStone Group, GV (Google Ventures), Riot Ventures, Fika Ventures, and CIV for the partnership. We're hiring! Link in the comments.
Sift, an El Segundo, California-based company founded in 2022 by CEO Karthik Gollapudi and CTO Austin Spiegel, raised $42 million in a Series B round. The company, which applies software originally developed at SpaceX to manage massive streams of sensor data for complex machines like rockets, spacecraft, and cars, saw its focus shift toward providing robust data infrastructure for AI-driven manufacturing. The round was led by StepStone Group, with participation from GV (Google Ventures), Riot Ventures, Fika Ventures, and CIV. FUN FACT: The VP of Software at Astranis told us his team at SpaceX built two internal versions of what Sift does. It took dedicated teams of engineers and cost millions. He said the reason he went with Sift early is that he knew what it takes to build this yourself, and for a company like Astranis, the ability to just install it and focus on building spacecraft is a huge enabler. When the person who literally built the internal SpaceX version of your product tells you that what you’ve built is good enough to replace it, that hits different. FOUNDERS: Karthik Gollapudi & Austin Spiegel INVESTORS: StepStone, GV, Riot Ventures, Fika Ventures, CIV ROUND: Series B AMOUNT: $42,000,000 HQ: El Segundo, California #VentureCapital #Sift #KarthikGollapudi #AustinSpiegel #TradedVC

Will Coffield has been with us from the beginning. Grateful for partners like Riot Ventures.
The AI era for physical systems starts with the data infrastructure underneath it. Today we're announcing a $42M Series B backed by StepStone Group, GV (Google Ventures), Riot Ventures, Fika Ventures and CIV. Hardware teams are building spacecraft, propulsion systems, autonomous vehicles, and defense platforms. They're generating terabytes of high-frequency telemetry per test. But the tools they have were built for software logs, not for sensor data across vehicles running on independent clocks. We built Sift from first principles: every data type, across 11+ hardware-native formats, lands in a structured schema that's readable by engineers and by models. Historical data stays queryable for the life of the program without breaking a budget. 70 employees today. Doubling with this round. All from our new headquarters in Marina del Rey. We're hiring. Crystal Huang led our Series A and is our largest investor to date. Thank you for the vote of confidence and for following on to our Series B.
Building monitoring systems for Falcon 9 and Dragon at SpaceX, Sift co-founders Karthik Gollapudi and Austin Spiegel saw firsthand that while software companies had world-class data infrastructure, hardware companies were still relying on spreadsheets and tribal knowledge. So they built Sift to fix it. GV is proud to back them in their Series B as they continue to build the infrastructure layer for the physical world.

At Sift, we're building the mission-critical data infrastructure layer for defense systems, rockets, satellites, drones, autonomous vehicles. These machines generate massive amounts of sensor data, and the tooling used to make sense of it was designed for software, not hardware. As Tectonic put it, the fundraise will go toward expanding "the infrastructure layer that AI-controlled hardware systems will depend on across space, defense, manufacturing, and autonomy." Scaling the team, opening in SF, and doubling down on the platform. We're hiring! Link in the comments.
