How can education prepare future generations to thrive amid planetary crises and rapid advances in AI?🌍🤖 During #NYClimateWeek and the #UNGA, we brought together our partners from across the Villars Institute ecosystem—educators, entrepreneurs, enablers, and Villars Fellows—in collaboration with Swissnex in Boston and New York for a multidisciplinary and intergenerational panel exploring this question. Key takeaways from the discussion: ✏️Education is one of the strongest levers for change, requiring new models that integrate systems thinking, systems leadership, and intergenerational collaboration. ✏️AI must work alongside human empathy; while it is a powerful tool, empathy, accountability, and creativity remain uniquely human and essential to addressing global challenges. ✏️Youth bring fresh creativity and leadership, offering perspectives not yet dampened by convention. Meet Harry from the Future Council! At just 7 years old, Harry Robinson challenged his parents to help solve the plastic problem. After 2503 failed attempts and 752 days of determination, Harry and his family turned a single-use plastic bottle into a pair of eyewear frames. That idea became Good Citizens, now Australia’s most awarded eyewear brand. Seven years on, Harry (14) has appeared in Forbes USA, on the front page of the printed Sydney Morning Herald and met the Prime Minister. He has spoken at over 100 events including at the United Nations, Tesla, Google, TEDx and Vivid Sydney. Good Citizens design principles, which Harry helped create, are now part of the official Australian school curriculum. Harry has helped the brand earn an exclusive window at Selfridges London, placed right next to Prada for three months. He still holds a 25 percent say in all business decisions.
