Traditional silo inspections rely on methods such as scaffolding and rope access, proven approaches that remain essential, especially in complex environments. Today, these are complemented by technologies that enhance efficiency and insight. Below Vinçotte (a Kiwa company) shows how drones and robotic wall-climbers are transforming concrete infrastructure management. Why this matters for your next inspection: ✅ Safety First: No more putting inspectors in high-risk or confined spaces. ✅ Micro-Detail: Drones capture cracks as small as 0.2 mm that the human eye might miss. ✅ Robotic NDT: Our crawlers maintain stable contact on vertical surfaces for precise sub-surface material testing. ✅ Digital Evidence: We turn visuals into 3D models and AI-powered heatmaps for traceable, long-term monitoring. Whether you're managing a single silo or a global portfolio of concrete assets, the goal is the same: Zero downtime, zero accidents, and 100% data certainty. Earlier this month, Screening Eagle | Proceq invited GPRS Field Service Director Jamie Althauser to compete in the concrete scanning portion of the GPR Tagging Competition at the first ever Proceq Day North America event in Jacksonville, Florida. Although Jamie’s been out of the field for over 10 years, his decades of experience, and his job of overseeing the training of every new GPRS Project Manager must’ve kept the art & science of concrete imaging in his blood - because he WON! To win the competition, each competitor was given 15 minutes to identify and mark all reinforcements and defects inside one of Proceq’s training slabs. Out of 20 participants, Jamie was one of two who found everything, and he finished 20 seconds faster. A big thank you to Proceq’s Chris Moody for spearheading the event and bringing Jamie down to participate in their industry round table, and the competition. He looks forward to coming back next year to defend his title. Congrats, Jamie! Way to make the GPRS team proud. Groundbreaking Research at Big Bone Lick State Park Historic Site 👏 We are excited to share a major geological study aimed at uncovering Kentucky’s environmental history! This research utilized a multimethod geophysical approach to identify the best locations for scientific coring at the iconic Big Bone Lick State Historic Site. By using advanced technologies like the Proceq GS9000 multichannel GPR and SH-wave seismic refraction, the team was able to image subsurface features and characterize the sediment-bedrock interface with precision. This work is vital for understanding how Kentucky’s ecosystems responded to post-glacial environmental changes over thousands of years. 🤝 A Collaborative Success This project represents a powerful partnership between Kentucky’s leading academic institutions and industry experts: • University of Kentucky: M.M. (Mike) McGlue, Zhenming Wang, Hudson Koch, Edward Woolery, and Kevin Woller. • Morehead State University: Jennifer O’Keefe. • Western Kentucky University: @Giliane G. Rasbold. • Proceq team (Screening Eagle USA): Patrick Baldwin and Tom Ott Check out the full overiew and results: https://hubs.la/Q04d_sCG0 #Geophysics #Geology #GPR #KentuckyGeology #ScientificCoring #ScreeningEagle #Proceq #BigBoneLick

#JLZ #ScreeningEagle #END

A great question with some powerful (and debatable) answers! What do you think about 3D GPR scanning? Are you a fan, or you don’t use it at all? The experts at our recent roundtable event in Florida had a fantastic discussion with the audience on 3D concrete scanning and several other topics. Many thanks to our panelists for your contributions, Jamie Althauser (GPRS), Shannon Dreese (Florida State DOT), Rory Foley (Cobra Concrete Cutting Services Co. & GPR USA), Jeffrey Cohen (BDI). Great day of collection at Godstow Abbey yesterday. Thanks to historic England for supplying our section 42 notice to allow us to scan on an Ancient Monument. Scanning ground that’s lay undisturbed for centuries has allowed us to uncover more than just the unmarked burial site. Utilising both Screening Eagle | Proceq GS9000 and GS8000 systems we’ve acquired some fantastic data. Now to put the story together and present at GEO Business 2026.
