On April 8 I had the privilege of presenting the Male Ally Award at the 2026 Margaret Lyn McDermid Women in Tech Awards, hosted by Richmond Technology Council - rvatech/. It was our first time sponsoring this event. It was a room full of people who genuinely care about each other making something good happen for the ever-changing Tech industry. So much enthusiasm! It was a joy to be in it. I had a moment from the podium to talk about change and the potential for joy in it that keeps showing up in our research interviews. People are craving it! A sign that it's a welcome add to the work conversation. The Male Ally Award went to Lewis McIntyre of Markel Corporation, and it was well earned. His team nominated him and he had no idea! Here's part of what they said: "𝘏𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘮𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘢 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘵 𝘣𝘺 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘩𝘪𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘮𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯, 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘦 𝘢 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘮, 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘭𝘶𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘪𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱 𝘳𝘰𝘭𝘦𝘴. 🎉 Join us in congratulating Lewis McIntyre on winning the Richmond Technology Council - rvatech/ Women in Tech Male Ally Award. Lewis M., Senior Director of Cybersecurity, was recognized for his commitment to championing women in technology, and we’re excited to share a photo from the moment.
