Really enjoyed this conversation with Simon Owens about the early days of Campaigns & Elections and the choices that shaped what it is today. We get into what it actually took to turn around a struggling legacy title, why focus matters so much in B2B media, and how those lessons are now informing what we are building at RegStream Media Group as we work to create the next great B2B media business in highly regulated industries. Grateful to have done it alongside Shane D'Aprile. If you care about media strategy, audience-first thinking, or building durable media businesses, it is well worth the read.

The 45-year-old magazine Campaigns & Elections has had one of the most impressive media turnarounds in the last decade. Its new owners did away with the print magazine, rebuilt its events business, and refocused the content to attract a high-value, B2B audience. They've been so successful that they're now launching and acquiring new outlets. https://lnkd.in/edz4wxnc

What does 2026 hold for the media industry? I shared my two cents with A Media Operator (you know where the link is 👇 ). For the industries we serve at RegStream Media Group, regulatory volatility is only going to increase in 2026, both nationally and at the state level. That raises the bar for B2B media. It’s no longer just about keeping audiences up to date, it’s about anticipating what they need and delivering it before they even ask. One area we’re especially focused on is using AI to surface insights from the data we already collect, so our members are better equipped to make confident decisions in their own markets. Of course, I just see things from the perspective of my corner of the industry. So it was a real treat to read the thoughts of industry heavyweights in the article: Allison Murphy, Douglas Emslie, Paul Miller FCIM, Adam Shaw, Rafat Ali, Nada Arnot, James Capo, Rebecca Costello, John Garrett and Mark Shashoua. Thank you all! It's a reminder of why A Media Operator is so valuable: because every single day you can get ideas and insight from the best operators in the business. So here's to Jacob Cohen Donnelly, Christiana Sciaudone, Bron Maher and all the others who make AMO such an awesome resource. Happy Holidays and wishing you all a successful and, most importantly, fun 2026! 🥂

It's always fund talking shop with someone who knows their stuff. So Shane D'Aprile and I had a great time chatting with Simon Owens earlier for an episode of his media podcast. I've got a lot of value from listening to other media entrepreneurs on Simon's pod, so it was a real treat to get to share D'Aprile's and my journey and our plans for turning RegStream Media Group into the next great B2B media business. I'll post the episode here when it's out.

🎤 Mic drop moment for our C&E Mexico team. ¡Felicidades a todos mis compañeros! Obviously, selling out more than a month before an event is cause for celebration. But it's more than that. It's a reminder of the power of events that *sit at the heart* of the community they serve. The Reed Latinos isn't just another event. It's something people plan their calendars around. Something they look forward to every year. Something that brings the community closer together while helping it flourish and grow at the same time. That right there is what sits at the heart of our mission at RegStream Media Group.

  • 📍 The Reed Latino Awards are heading to Antigua, Guatemala! This November 28 & 29, the most prestigious awards in Latin American political communication return to one of the region’s most iconic cities. The 2025 Reed Latino Awards, hosted by Campaigns & Elections México (a RegStream Media Group brand), will bring together leading political consultants, creative agencies, and campaign professionals from across the region for two days of networking, and celebration. This is our second time hosting in Central America. Selecting the right location is an essential part of how we design our events. The setting helps shape the entire experience. Antigua, with its rich history, cobblestone streets, and volcanic backdrop, is the perfect fit for an event that celebrates innovation and impact. We are proud to continue raising the bar for awards experiences in regulated industries.

    • An award winner at the Reed Latino Awards.
  • 🏆 We’re proud to share that Alex Halperin, the Editor-In-Chief of WeedWeek, a RegStream Media Group brand, has been recognized with a 2025 Gerald Loeb Award alongside Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Paige St. John for their reporting which found vapes containing alarming levels of banned pesticides had improperly reached dispensary shelves, with regulators unwilling or unable to protect consumers. More than a year after the first story was published, California regulators have yet to provide evidence that products on dispensary shelves meet state pesticide standards. The investigation has had lasting impact and raised critical questions that extend far beyond California. “Working with Paige and her colleagues was a career highlight,” Halperin said. “And the issue remains urgent, not just in California but across the legal cannabis industry.”
