Very proud of our contributions to this herculean effort using our #unmanned surface vessels! Last year, we collected over 3,000 linear nautical miles of multibeam data off the emerald coast of Florida working with Woolpert Maritime as part of the Florida Seafloor Mapping Initiative. As a team, we worked fast, with all deliverables already accepted for the region. We also operated in the Great Lakes with the Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping / NOAA-UNH Joint Hydrographic Center, collecting a further 1,200 linear nautical miles of high resolution multibeam data in Lake Erie using the new R2Sonic Voxometer. There's a lot more work to do, and we're ready to assist with surveying America's waters more efficiently!
In 2025, the ocean and coastal mapping community added 70,700 square nautical miles to national data repositories! NOAA is hard at work surveying and ingesting seafloor mapping data to advance mapping U.S. waters. Learn more about our progress in our latest annual report: https://lnkd.in/ewusF5n9

Wrecks are the 'supermodels' of the underwater world, but they do serve to illustrate a point. Here we have the Polynesian wreck at around 65m depth. We did a baseline survey using the Sonic 2026 #Multibeam at 450kHz to generate the top image, with 6 passes over the wreck to get as much detail as possible. The 2nd image shows what the #Voxometer can deliver in just a single pass thanks to the MA3 Multi Aspect™ principle. Not only is the improved level of detail plain to see, but this simple survey example translates into a real time saving of around 80%.
