Yesterday, I had the opportunity to attend the POLITICO Health Care Summit in DC. The biggest theme of the day was affordability. Policymakers, industry leaders and experts seemed to agree that health care spending is unsustainably high, but they disagreed on the root causes and what to do about it. Conversations covered everything from hospital costs and insurance premiums to drug prices and Mediare/Medicaid. Every conversation made clear that too many people are struggling to access and afford care, and too many parts of the system are absorbing the consequences. The other piece: No one can solve the cost issue alone. It's going to take all the players -- across government, providers, payers, and public health leaders -- to redesign a more affordable system that offers quality health care to everyone. #PoliticoHealthcareSummit #HealthcareComms #PadillaProud #Health Padilla
