Across the GCC, digital transformation is accelerating fast, with the cloud computing market growing at nearly 20% annually. As organizations expand beyond traditional security systems, they’re adopting cloud-based solutions and integrating capabilities like IP audio. But more technology shouldn’t mean more complexity. ONVIF standards ensures systems remain flexible, scalable, and interoperable, whether on-premise, in the cloud, or hybrid. Because the future of security isn’t one system. It’s an ecosystem. #ONVIF #UAE #KSA #Qatar #SmartCities #DigitalTransformation #GCC

The Security Event is underway at NEC Birmingham this week — and ONVIF is proud to be part of it. As a sponsor, our presence extends across the show floor. But what matters more than visibility is what's happening across hundreds of stands: ONVIF member companies are out in force, demonstrating products built on open, interoperable standards. That's the ONVIF ecosystem in action. TSE is the UK's most important gathering for our industry. If you're walking the floor this week, pay attention to how often you see the ONVIF logo. Chances are, it's more than you'd expect. 📍 NEC Birmingham | 28–30 April 2026 https://lnkd.in/enrzfxS #ONVIF #TheSecurityEvent #OpenStandards #PhysicalSecurity #TSE2026

Smart cities are quickly adding connected infrastructure, all over the world. But when the security systems behind that infrastructure can't talk to each other, cities end up with fragmented visibility and limited ability to act. That's an interoperability problem, and it's one open standards are built to solve. Our latest blog explores why interoperable security infrastructure is foundational to smart city design: vendor independence, long-term investment protection, and data that can actually move between platforms and become actionable intelligence. Building the cities of the future isn't just about adding more technology. It's about making sure it works together. Our April 2026 newsletter is live and the highlights include our reflections on ISC West this year - a validation that our work in standards is heading in the right direction. Something was different on the show floor. The conversations were more grounded. Cloud and AI weren't talking points — they were deployments, outcomes, lessons learned. The industry has moved on from "if" and is getting deep into "how." In addition to our ISC West recap, this quarter covers Roberto Licari's appearances at regional events across Southeast Europe, ONVIF's upcoming session at Secutech Taipei, Leo Levit at the Security Industry Association (SIA)'s annual standards webinar, and the announcement of our 2025 Recognition Award recipients. We're at Secutech Taipei this week — and the timing couldn't be better. Thursday at 10:10 AM, ONVIF Communications Committee Member Joyce Zhou presents "Matter of Trust: Media Authenticity in Video Surveillance." AI and video integrity is a conversation the industry can't afford to keep kicking down the road, and this session gets into exactly what open standards do about it. ONVIF Ambassador Roberto Licari is onsite all week. If you want to sit down and talk membership, the ONVIF profile portfolio, conformance, or where we're headed on access control, AI, analytics, cloud, and audio — grab a slot on his calendar: https://lnkd.in/dSRqV7qG

What does it actually take to build a resilient smart city? ONVIF Chairman Leo Levit tackles that question in a new op-ed for The National News, arguing that public safety can't be bolted on after the fact. It has to be designed in from the start. The stakes are real. Fragmented, proprietary systems create the kind of vulnerabilities that only become visible when conditions shift. Open standards are what make the difference, enabling cities to integrate new technology, avoid vendor lock-in, and scale without expensive overhauls. The piece is worth a read if you're thinking about where smart city infrastructure is headed in the Gulf and beyond. https://lnkd.in/ekM6_zmz #SmartCities #PublicSafety #OpenStandards #ONVIF #UrbanResilience #MiddleEast

📽️ Your surveillance footage just got a lot easier to fake. As AI-generated content becomes more sophisticated, the authenticity of recorded video matters — for security operations, for investigations, for anything that ends up in a legal proceeding. It's no longer a hypothetical concern but an evidentiary one. ONVIF is joining #Secutech 2026 in Taipei this year as a Knowledge Partner, and on April 23 at 10:10 AM, ONVIF Communications Committee Member Joyce Zhou will address this directly in a featured session: "Matter of Trust: Media Authenticity in Video Surveillance." ONVIF Ambassador Roberto Licari will also be onsite for anyone who wants to go deeper on membership, profiles, conformance, or how open, vendor-independent standards apply to what you're building. His calendar is open — book time at the show here: https://lnkd.in/dSRqV7qG And if you haven't yet read Roberto's recent conversation with asmag.com on video authentication and where ONVIF is headed, it's worth your time before the session: https://lnkd.in/dYkaqat9 #Secutech2026 #PhysicalSecurity #SecurityIndustry 。

95-98% of security system activations are non-emergencies. That number hasn't moved much in decades, but the reason it might finally change is more interesting than you'd expect. ONVIF Ambassador Roberto Licari joined the latest SecurityInformed.com/SourceSecurity.com.com executive roundtable on false alarm reduction, and his take is that's not just about smarter AI. It's about whether that intelligence can actually travel between systems. The roundtable is definitely worth a read if you're thinking about where analytics, open standards, and real-world alarm response are going to intersect. Read more from Roberto and join in the conversation with fellow ONVIF member company representatives Adam Lowenstein of i-PRO, Dean Cunningham of Axis Communications, Nate Johnson of Salient Systems and Louis-Alexandre St-Laurent Migos of Genetec https://lnkd.in/e6_VYFFF
