Q1 has involved quite a bit of public speaking - at our conference (Raise + Arrange) for non-profit event planners, with OneCause, a Bonterra company speaking about executing amazing fundraisers, and last week MN Festivals & Events Association speaking about event trends! While some nerves help fuel a great talk my favorite part is when I see someone stop and take a note. Knowing that our knowledge sparked an idea or fueled a next step is a serious hit of positive dopamine! Those who do speaking engagements, what's your favorite part?! If you want to chat about events or ever need a fast-talking, engaging event speaker - let us know :)

March Madness has officially tipped off at the OneCause, a Bonterra company office.🏀 Brackets are busted, allegiances are strong, and productivity may or may not be hanging on by a thread… The debates are getting heated too. (Especially if you’re sitting near an Ohio State fan.) That’s what makes days like this fun. A little competition, a lot of laughs, and a team that knows how to work hard and enjoy the moments in between. May the best bracket survive!!

Many nonprofits are thinking about AI the wrong way. The conversation often centers around productivity. “Can AI help us write emails faster?” “Can AI help us summarize reports?” Those are useful, but they miss the bigger opportunity. Some of the world’s most successful companies are not using AI just for productivity. They are using it to fundamentally change how they understand and engage customers, and there are important lessons nonprofits can borrow. Amazon uses AI to predict what customers will want before they search for it. Netflix uses machine learning to personalize the experience for every single user. Salesforce uses AI to analyze data and recommend the next best action for teams. The common theme is not automation. It’s intelligence. These companies are using AI to turn massive amounts of data into insight that helps them make better decisions faster. Nonprofits actually have a similar opportunity. Many organizations are sitting on years of donor engagement data, event participation patterns, and giving histories. AI can help surface patterns that humans might not see easily. For example: Predicting which supporters are most likely to become major donors. Identifying when a donor may be disengaging before they lapse. Understanding what types of campaigns resonate most strongly with different audiences. This is where AI becomes very powerful. Not as a replacement for relationships, but as a way to equip nonprofit teams with better intelligence so they can build stronger relationships. The organizations that will thrive in the next decade will not simply adopt AI tools. They will rethink how insight, data, and technology work together to support their mission. While much is uncertain, there are things we know are changing rapidly: donor demographic shifts, massive transfers of wealth and exponential technology growth with AI. The flip side of that coin is that change is hard, and we need to plan and execute carefully. We’re still early in this transformation. But it’s one of the most interesting shifts happening in nonprofit technology right now. I’m excited about what’s being built to help our partners digest and utilize the information they already have to see much better results. Curious how others in the nonprofit space are thinking about AI. How are you using it? Comment here! #AI #data #saas #donors #nonprofit #fundraising OneCause, a Bonterra company
