Yesterday, EUREGHA was represented by our Director, Michele Calabro', at the European Parliament 🇪🇺 for the policy dialogue “𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗽: 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 – 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲”, hosted by Victor NEGRESCU and the 4P-CAN Project Consortium. 🧩 The discussion focused on how to better 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹-𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 in cancer prevention, particularly in Eastern Europe and underserved communities, with a strong emphasis on the role of 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗱: ➡️ The importance of 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵, including in the next MFF, as highlighted by MEP Negrescu ➡️ Better integration of 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀—workforce capacity, health literacy, trust, and access pathways—into prevention strategies ➡️ Strengthening 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, including partnerships, coordination, and feedback loops ➡️ Embedding 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 (rural–urban and East–West disparities) from the outset ➡️ The potential of 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝘀, such as the Lerești example in Romania, to support co-creation, testing, and scaling 🗣️ During the panel, Michele brought the 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻-𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 of the EUREGHA network, highlighting the experience of the ONCODIR 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁—part of the Cancer Mission cluster Prevention and Early Detection Cluster - Implementation Research—and reinforcing the 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 in advancing cancer prevention. He also stressed the need for 𝗱𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 in the next #MFF, with a stronger focus on implementation and cross-border learning. 💬 “𝗜𝗳 𝘄𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸, 𝘄𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆—𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲.” 📍 The event also featured the “𝗔𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀” exhibition, showcasing how local dynamics and social networks influence prevention behaviours and uptake.
