About us
My Mind Check is a free, evidence-based digital check-in platform that empowers schools and educators to take a proactive approach to student wellbeing and mental health. We give educators the confidence to identify wellbeing needs early and connect students with the right information and support, ensuring no student slips through the cracks. Through brief 10-15-minute supervised check-ins, schools gain immediate insights into students’ mental health needs and wellbeing strengths, along with practical follow-up resources that assist staff and teachers to respond as needed. Developed in collaboration with industry and funded by the Australian Government Department of Education, My Mind Check is grounded in breakthrough research that shows participating in check-ins leads to 20% fewer students reporting emotional difficulties and 30% higher school attendance after just one year. Since launching in late 2024, My Mind Check is now trusted by schools in every state and territory across Australia. Delivered by Macquarie University in Sydney and funded by the Australian Government Department of Education.

St Luke's Grammar School in NSW has seen a clear shift in how students talk about their mental health since introducing My Mind Check. One staff member shared that a recent student check-in was the turning point that “really got her into support” – a reflection of how safe and approachable the process felt for students. By normalising help-seeking, the check-ins created space for more honest conversations and revealed needs that might otherwise have gone unnoticed, helping staff respond earlier and with confidence.

Carey Baptist Grammar School in Victoria began using My Mind Check with their largest intake, years 5 and 10, and quickly saw how the platform added a meaningful layer to their wellbeing approach. The check-in insights enriched teachers’ existing knowledge and brought student voice into everyday wellbeing conversations. Staff described the platform as a “no-brainer”, with guides and resources that were “excellent and easy to follow”. All 28 participating staff ran check-ins confidently without needing extra support. Carey now plans to extend the program to Year 9, recognising the value of deeper insights during key transitional stages.

Before everyone heads into a well-earned break, we want to acknowledge the care and commitment our partner schools have shown throughout 2025. These school communities prioritised student wellbeing this year, creating space for meaningful conversations, and exploring new ways of understanding how students are going. These efforts matter, even when they happen quietly and consistently in the background of a busy school year. Thank you for your partnership and the trust you place in My Mind Check. As we wrap up for the year, we’re sharing an update on our upcoming holiday closure period. The My Mind Check School Support Team will be closed from 4pm on Friday 19 December while our team takes a well-earned break. Wishing everyone a calm and restorative end to the year. ✨ #SchoolCommunity #StudentWellbeing #YouthMentalHealth #MyMindCheck #AustralianSchools

At Canberra Grammar School, early hesitation quickly turned into confidence with My Mind Check. After piloting check-ins with a small group, staff found the process was simpler and far more insightful than expected. The wellbeing insights gave teachers clearer direction, surfaced students who needed extra support, and strengthened whole-school planning. But the biggest standout was the support team behind the platform. As one leader shared: “Our number one priority is helping every student succeed. If this program helps even one student…it’s absolutely worth it.” Their message to other schools? “Take the leap. Just get started and learn along the way.” Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gD8vAqUa

It’s been one year since student check-ins began, and the results are inspiring! 🌟 Here’s a glimpse into how one school is using our platform to make a real impact on student wellbeing. This school first trialled My Mind Check with students in Year 12 as a valuable opportunity to support students as they entered their final year of schooling. And to provide staff with insights to guide them through this important stage. Early feedback indicates the approach is making a measurable difference. The school tells us that a number of students received additional wellbeing support following their check-ins. In particular, the school shared that one student “knew she had been struggling with anxiety – the check-in really got her into support”. Stories like this remind us why we do what we do – helping schools build proactive, connected and supportive learning environments where every student feels they can speak up about their own mental health and wellbeing, and teachers are empowered with practical and appropriate resources.
