We got ourselves a workshop! 🛠️ Since January, we've had our own multi-purpose space right around the corner from our office space at YES!Delft. It's where we craft prototypes, build products, run our 3D printers around the clock, hold team meetings, and store the ever-growing pile of parts. Honestly, we're already wondering how we ever managed without it. Even though we can literally see it from the office where our desks are, the route there still forces us up and down a few flights of stairs. Workshop or workout? 🏋️ Either way, we're getting our daily dose of exercise.

🚀 Entrepreneurship often starts with curiosity. For TPM alumnus Kas Hogeboom, that curiosity grew into a clear mission. 💡Throughout his time at TU Delft, he discovered how technical knowledge and societal impact can reinforce one another. What began as an interest in innovation soon evolved into a drive to create real solutions in healthcare. As part of his academic journey, Kas worked closely with researchers and early‑stage ventures. This gave him a glimpse of how ideas can grow into technologies with concrete societal value. “That’s when I realised: this is what I want to do. I wanted to help move promising innovations forward,” he says. 🔬 Today, that journey has led him to co‑found Lyla, a high‑tech company developing tools that help improve the safety and quality of next‑generation cancer treatments. “Our work helps ensure these medicines can reach patients faster and more reliably,” Kas explains. “Everyone knows someone affected by cancer. If we can contribute to better accessibility of innovative therapies, the impact is immediate.” 🌱 His story shows how TU Delft offers much more than academic knowledge. It is a place where students can experiment, collaborate and discover unexpected strengths simply by engaging with the community around them. The freedom to design your own learning path through electives, projects, internships or extracurricular initiatives was crucial in shaping Kas’ entrepreneurial mindset. 💬 “You don’t need to know exactly what you want to become,” he says. “But you do need to stay active. Ask people how they do things, look for opportunities, surround yourself with people who inspire you.” 🌍 Now preparing for international growth, Kas shows what can happen when a student turns curiosity into action and ambition into entrepreneurship. #TUDelft #TPMAlumni #Entrepreneurship #HealthTech #Innovation #Startups

I took the stage today at the Lab Automation conference by FHI Laboratorium Technologie 🎤 Talked about what it actually takes to build a new lab instrument from scratch in a highly regulated market, with detector technology, hardware and software, all at once, while building a company as Lyla from the ground up. Loved talking about it openly. And great to meet fellow founders Gijs Koning and Lars-Eric Fielmich afterwards.

Meet Sake, our new Physics Engineer! In a previous role, Ernst mentored a biomedical engineering intern who left a real impression. Fast forward to today - that intern is now part of team Lyla! He joined us at the start of the year and is accelerating how we gather insights from our data. His background combines experimentation and modelling, and at Lyla he gets to do both. Throw in some software engineering experience and you've got the kind of versatility that's gold in a startup. Oh, and if you're ever looking for someone to join you for a cold dip - Sake's your guy. Welcome Sake! 🙌

YES! Today, Lyla turned 1 🥳 Year one was all about turning an idea into a business: enabling radiopharmaceuticals to reach their full potential by addressing a key bottleneck: Quality Control. That journey led to unveiling the Lyla One at the biggest nuclear medicine fair in Europe -- European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM). Showing how QC for targeted alpha therapies can be solved. What started as a founding team has grown into a full crew. From science to engineering to business, all bases covered. Our partners played a key role Delft Enterprises B.V., TU Delft | Reactor Institute, Erasmus MC, UNIIQ - Finance for the Future, Graduate Ventures, YES!Delft and Benedict Peax. Their feedback, trust, and willingness to work closely with us helped validate both the product and our direction. Thank you for joining our story and celebrating the journey with us. Year two, Let's GO 🚀 With: Kas Hogeboom, Bauke van Gameren, Ernst van der Wal, Marjolein van Braak, Nicolas Hornea, Sake Salverda, Meeke Van den Berg, Jaemy Westgeest & Robin Loos

D66 & Lyla 🤝 On Monday, we had the pleasure of hosting Ouafa Oualhadj, Felix Klos, and Jan Schoonis, Members of Parliament for D66. We shared the Lyla story, highlighted the strategic strength of the Dutch radiopharmaceutical industry, and discussed the importance of strong startup ecosystems such as YES!Delft. Although the Netherlands is a small country, it continues to be a global innovation stronghold. This is only possible through a shared vision between startups and political partners like D66, working together to shape the future of innovation. 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐧𝐨𝐰, 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝐮𝐩! Grateful for the visit and the open conversation. Many thanks to YES!Delft (Ras Lalmy, Radena Tsoneva) for hosting and making this possible. #D66 #Lyla #dutchradiopharma

🎓 One Chapter Closed, Another One Loading… 🚀 Today was the last day of Meeke Van den Berg’s internship, which also marks the completion of her Master’s degree in Applied Physics at the TU Delft. As of today, she is officially a Master of Science. Congratulations Meeke! 👏 Her final activity was sharing her experiences and lessons learned during her internship with the team. Thank you for all your hard work; we have learned a lot over the past months! For now, she will go on holiday, and who knows….maybe we’ll see her back at the Lyla office again 😇

🎉 Bam! Great news just before the holidays 🎉 We are excited to share that we have been granted the NWO (Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek) Take-off Phase 2! The Take-off Phase 2 program is designed to support the transition from scientific research to real-world commercial applications. As our mission is to translate a strong scientific foundation into impactful solutions, this support comes at exactly the right moment. This funding allows us to further develop our technology, validate it in real-time clinical settings, and continue building our team -- the foundation of everything we do. And as icing on the cake 🍰, we also won Best Costume at the amazing YES!Delft Christmas Party 🎄 What a fantastic way to end the year. On to an exciting next chapter! 🚀 TU Delft | Reactor Institute Erasmus MC
