"Many lawyers focus on protecting old working models rather than learning how to win the next one." The winners of the SKILLS.law 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗲 audience award for the most inspiring and helpful presentation, Christian Lang of Lega and Andrea Alliston of Fasken, presented something refreshingly concrete: a 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀-𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗜 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗿𝘂𝗻 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺. Over the summer, they brought together 65 in-house lawyers and firm professionals and did three things that many AI initiatives still avoid: 𝟭. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺𝘀 Participants weren’t shown abstract demos. They worked through scenarios that reflected the actual constraints of in-house legal teams—limited budgets, small teams, real delivery pressure. 𝟮. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 The workshop deliberately progressed through three layers: What you can achieve with prompting alone (the “ChatGPT layer”) What changes when you compare models and tools side-by-side What becomes possible when you build reusable, scalable prototypes That structure made the limits and the possibilities clear very fast. 𝟯. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲  One of the most important outcomes wasn’t technical at all.  It was alignment. Too many firm–client AI conversations are abstract and slightly adversarial: “Don’t use our data.” “But we expect efficiency gains.” “And we’re not sure what’s realistic.” Working together on tangible prototypes grounded expectations in reality. Everyone left with the same facts, the same constraints, and a clearer sense of what “value” actually looks like. #NoMoFomOz: Christian made a point that stuck with me: At this GenAI inflection point, law firms may need to rediscover product–market fit; not because they’ve failed, but because the environment is changing quickly. Many market responses are still focused on protecting old models rather than learning how to win the next one. This kind of collaboration among law firm, client, and technology partner in the same room offers a practical way forward: Faster learning Stronger relationships Fewer assumptions on all sides That’s likely why the presentation resonated, and why approaches like this deserve more attention as firms think seriously about their role in an AI-enabled legal ecosystem. 🏆🙌 We could not be prouder to have won this year's SKILLS.law Showcase award with our partners at Fasken! (For the second year running! 😲🥳) Thanks, Andrea Alliston, Rachelle Thompson, CBAP, and team! Our presentation captures one of the truly most rewarding experiences I've had since starting Lega: helping a trailblazing law firm guide and inspire over 50 clients at a hands-on workshop to build real #AI apps and agents. 🤝🚀 That sort of collaboration is essential (in the words of my co-presenter Andrea) "to build relationships and partnerships that will define the next era of legal services". 💯🙌 #genAI #workshops #experientiallearning

Last week, we were honored to bring Lega's unique experiential AI workshops to Harbor's #AIMastermind series. The innovation leaders at many of the world's best law firms dove into our platform's #genAI learning lab to get hands-on and build apps and agents attacking real-world challenges. Thanks, Oz Benamram, for the wonderful recap and opportunity to share this fantastic experience with our LinkedIn #legaltech family!

#AIMastermind #NoMoFoMOz: What happens when law firm innovation leaders step into an AI sandbox and actually build something? At this week’s Harbor AI Mastermind Rewind, I spoke with Christian Lang, CEO of Lega, after he led an experiential AI workshop for senior law firm leaders, which turned theory into hands-on practice. Instead of talking about AI, we built with it. Participants tackled three real-world challenges - one in the business of law, one in the practice of law, and one in professional development - through a three-phase journey: * Prompt layer: Crafting effective prompts in familiar chatbot interfaces, and experiencing the Lega prompt builder, * Model Comparison: Testing 15+ models side-by-side to see real performance differences, * App Building: Creating a reusable, scalable workflow from scratch for real-life legal, business, and professional development challenges. See the screen share in the video. Watching senior legal innovation leaders dig into the technology was both humbling and inspiring (and, at times, hilarious). As Christian put it: “There’s no learning like hands-on learning. It demystifies what seems inscrutable—and makes it real.” What stood out most: * Senior leaders found real joy in the weeds—testing, tinkering, and collaborating in a safe space before investing. This is exactly the type of engagement law firms need as they navigate the AI revolution. * The breakthrough for many? Understanding large language models isn’t just about “smart chatbots,” and using LLMs isn’t about “asking better questions.” It’s about managing context by connecting knowledge sources, data, tools, and instructions so the model can reason effectively. * My favorite feature? Lega's system prompt generator. You describe your use case in plain language, and the AI crafts an enterprise-grade system prompt for you. No prompt engineering required. It's like a meal kit for AI development-rails when you need them, full creative freedom when you don't. * Christian’s big-picture insight landed: “The real competition isn’t between firms. It’s all of us, collectively, against disruption.” That’s exactly what makes AI Mastermind special. Rival firms collaborating, learning, and experimenting together - because none of us can figure this out alone. We'll continue these vital conversations and experiments through the Harbor AI Mastermind. This community is the place to build, share, and confront the future, together.
