  • JOB TITLE: Legal Practitioner (2x) LOCATION: Windhoek The LAC is a public-interest law centre based in Windhoek and was established in 1988 to provide legal services to indigent individuals and communities. The Legal Assistance Centre is inviting dynamic applicants to apply for the position of legal practitioner to commence employment in early 2026. The successful applicants will work in the fields of social justice, land, environment and gender rights and so support the tenets of our constitutional democracy. Key performance indicators: - Conduct public interest litigation on behalf of individuals and communities; - Assist with the development of legal publications, legal research documents and community educational materials; - Present at workshops in the mentioned fields; - Represent the LAC at different fora; - Attend workshops, conferences and lectures on human rights as required; - Submit activity reports to LAC management; - Attend to any Ad-Hoc functions relevant to the position. The ideal candidate should meet the following requirements: Academic: - LLB degree or other recognized Law Degree - The applicant must be an admitted Legal Practitioner of the High Court of Namibia Experience: - The ability to communicate and negotiate at all levels; - Minimum 2 years post-admission experience - Keen interest in human rights and working with marginalized communities - A systematic methodical approach to work; - The willingness and ability to travel out of town and to rural areas on short notice; - Tolerance and respect for diverse viewpoints and choices. - Good command of the English language (both written and oral) – proficiency in other languages spoken will be an advantage As per Affirmative Action Act, 1998, persons from the designated groups are encouraged to apply.
