Why does the build pass locally but fail somewhere else? As teams grow, inconsistent configuration and reusable build logic become harder to manage across environments and CI systems. Our live CMake training course covers practical approaches for: • Organizing build configuration • Improving consistency across environments • Reducing unnecessary complexity • Supporting larger software projects Taught live by the engineers who develop and maintain CMake. Consistency becomes harder to maintain as software stacks grow in size and complexity. Defining reusable, standardized environments helps reduce duplication and makes it easier to manage how software is built, tested, and deployed across teams and platforms. Approaches like common stacks provide a shared foundation that can be reused instead of rebuilt. As systems scale, this kind of structure is key to keeping environments aligned and manageable. Ryan Krattiger walks through the approach here: https://ow.ly/Ic4F50Z4M0k #TechTalk #CommonStacks #HPSFConference #Spack

Modern simulation workflows are increasingly constrained by architecture decisions made years ago. Many pipelines were built around the assumption that analysis would always happen after runtime. As data volume increases, that separation becomes harder to sustain efficiently. If this sounds like you, your team should consider integrating in situ analysis to modernize your workflows. With in situ, you can start analyzing your data as it’s being processed and get the insights you need without the delay. 🔗 https://ow.ly/OpvC50Z80mk #InSituAnalysis #ModernWorkflows #DataProcessing #ParaView #Catalyst

Supporting HPC software across platforms introduces challenges that go far beyond portability. Efforts to bring Spack to Windows highlight the complexity of managing software stacks in environments with different toolchains, system behaviors, and expectations. Improving consistency across these platforms is key to making workflows more reliable and easier to maintain. As development environments continue to diversify, cross-platform support is becoming an increasingly important part of modern HPC software infrastructure. 🔋 We are all “charged” up for this one! Our team partnered with TotalEnergies and Saft to develop a more efficient battery simulation workflow. Using trame, we replace a manual, file-based process with a unified Python web application to configure, launch, visualize, and analyze battery simulations. This enables researchers to: • Define battery geometry and materials • Submit simulations to HPC resources • Visualize results with ParaView • Compare experiments through integrated post-processing By bringing the entire workflow into a single interface, scientists can spend less time managing files and more time evaluating simulation results.
