JusticeText was recently featured in a Governing article on how public defenders are adapting to the growing volume of digital evidence. Chad Catalino, Chief Public Defender of Allegan County, Michigan, shared how his office partnered with JusticeText to manage thousands of hours of body cam footage and other video evidence. Before using the tool, one attorney told him there was simply no way to review all the footage and still keep up with the rest of the job. After implementing JusticeText, case clearance in the office increased by 8–9%, helping defenders review evidence more efficiently while continuing to advocate for their clients. Two months ago, our team came together in Medellín, Colombia for our annual in-person retreat. As a team of 11 people across four countries, it was a rare and meaningful opportunity to spend time together in the same place and deepen our existing relationships. We explored Comuna 13, danced salsa, went on a hike overlooking the city, shared meals, and spent hours in conversation reflecting on the responsibility of the work we do. As we head into 2026, we are building on that sense of connection. We remain deeply rooted in our mission to level the playing field within the criminal justice system, while staying ambitious about scaling the impact of our technology and the communities it serves.

We recently spoke with Qasim Abdul-Baki, a Montana public defender who draws on his own lived experience to advocate fiercely for his clients. After growing up around poverty and instability - and feeling let down by his own attorney as a child - he committed his career to doing better for others. He shared how tools like JusticeText help him stay efficient while juggling heavy caseloads and supporting clients with treatment, services, and real second chances. We are proud to stand behind attorneys like Qasim who fight every day to keep our justice system fair.

Last month, our team traveled to Montana to spend time with the incredible attorneys and staff at the Montana Office Of State Public Defender. After rolling out JusticeText statewide and integrating directly with their case management system earlier this year, it was so rewarding to see the impact firsthand. Our founder, Devshi, had the honor to speak at their annual conference. A special thank you to Brett Schandelson and Koan Mercer for welcoming us and for sharing how so many attorneys across the state are using our technology to better advocate for their clients.

We are thrilled to introduce the two amazing interns who spent the summer with us at JusticeText! Kyla Anderson is a student at Carnegie Mellon University studying Communications Design and Human-Computer Interaction. She is passionate about designing for social impact and led multiple UI/UX projects from early prototyping through implementation. Anish Ganga is a data science student at University of California, Berkeley and a True Ventures fellow. On campus, he manages client relations and technology for the ASUC Student Legal Clinic. At JusticeText, he supported a wide range of projects across customer success and product management. We are grateful for all of their contributions and cannot wait to see what they accomplish next as they head back to school.

We are proud to be featured in the R Street Institute's latest report on the evolving role of police body cameras in the criminal justice system. As the piece notes, body-worn camera footage was introduced as a tool for transparency, but too often, those tasked with protecting defendants don’t have the time or technology to meaningfully review it. At JusticeText, we are working to change that. Thank you to Logan Seacrest and Jillian Snider for for elevating this important conversation.
