For the first time, Jusoor and IIE have reinstated and adapted an Odyssey Scholarship to cover a student's studies inside Syria, making Naouar Abdul Wahab Jusoor’s first-ever scholar in Syria. When Naouar Abdul Wahab's family returned to Syria in 2025, she could no longer use her scholarship to study in Lebanon. Jusoor maintained close contact and worked with IIE to find a solution. The result: a fully reinstated scholarship covering four years of tuition and registration fees at Homs University, monthly stipends, transportation, and health insurance. Naouar is now studying Small and Medium Enterprise Management at Homs University. Her goal is to one day start her own company in management and finance. We are proud to announce ten scholarships for Syrian universities for the 2026/2027 academic year, marking the first time in Jusoor's history that our scholarship program will support students studying inside Syria. Keep an eye on our platforms as we will be announcing our scholarships at universities in Syria as part of our ongoing commitment to building the capacities of Syria's next generation of leaders. For 15 years, Jusoor has helped hundreds of Syrian students pursue their degrees around the world. Today, we are bringing that same commitment home with our new scholarship track, Built From Within, dedicated to supporting scholars at Syrian Universities. This track is for students who are choosing to stay and contribute to the country from the ground up. Jusoor is backing that choice with the same seriousness it has always brought to the international program. The students in this track are not just investing in their own education. They are part of something larger, a generation building expertise, capacity, and knowledge from within their own country. This Labor Day, we celebrate the opportunities that education pathways open to our scholars! Last summer, Jusoor scholar M Subhi Abo Rdan spent three months at Apple's headquarters in Cupertino as a Silicon Prototyping Engineering intern, working on FPGA engineering inside Apple's chip validation pipeline. During his internship, Subhi built a non-invasive distributed clock monitoring system for multi-board FPGA setups, engineered a cycle-accurate FPGA validation engine using RTL waveform replays, and designed a software and hardware pipeline that compressed complex engineering data by roughly 220 times. Subhi is a final-year Physics and Computer Science student at MIT, a three-time Physics Olympiad bronze medalist, and a Jusoor Open-Call scholar.
