Our 2025 Annual Report is here. Last year, we made significant progress toward building a healthier community while celebrating major milestones, including 100 years of service, achieving national accreditation, and launching a new strategic plan to guide our future. We also expanded our impact. Vaccine distribution reached its highest level since 2022, while food and Narcan distribution more than doubled and STI testing capacity more than quadrupled, demonstrating both increasing community need and our ability to respond. Building trust with teenagers is a two-way street. Parents and caregivers, it’s your turn for a pop quiz! Swipe for common FAQs and misconceptions on how to talk with your teen about sex. Our most important tip? Give it a try. The sooner you start and the more you practice, the more comfortable you will feel navigating sticky conversations together over time. Looking for more support? JCPH provides PDF guides to parents and caregivers who sign up their teens for Sex (Ed) Matters. Registration is now open for our next class on Friday, July 10. Bluebox has received a warm welcome this week! Thank you to all who joined us for the official ribbon cutting in downtown Lee's Summit yesterday afternoon. Offering free health products 24/7, Bluebox is ushering in a new chapter for access to care. Anyone can walk up to a Bluebox and instantly receive essential health goods—no insurance or payment required. In about a month's time, people have vended more than 100 doses of naloxone (Narcan), about 100 first aid kits and wound care kits, more than 50 bottles of hand sanitizer, and dozens of hygiene kits. We are especially grateful to Greater Lee's Summit Healthcare Foundation and the City of Lee's Summit for their support and partnership. Bring Bluebox to your community next! We are accepting community input on future Bluebox locations and looking for partner sites. Alpha-gal sounds like the name of a new superhero. 💥 In reality, alpha-gal syndrome (AGS) is an allergy to red meat and dairy products that can develop after being bitten by an infected tick. AGS has been on the rise in the United States, including here in Missouri. Symptoms are different for different people, but typically include stomach pain, hives, diarrhea, nausea, and/or vomiting. The severity of symptoms can range from mild to life-threatening. The best way to prevent AGS is to avoid tick bites while enjoying the outdoors. When you follow our tick bite prevention tips, YOU become the real superhero. Learn more about AGS and tick bite prevention in our blog. 🔎 https://bit.ly/3Q0udBI #alphagalsyndrome #tickbites #publichealth #jcph #jacksoncountymo
