Decades ago, #CellSheetEngineering was introduced through the pioneering work of Prof. Teruo Okano, rethinking how #TissueEngineering is done by eliminating the exogenous scaffold edge of the #TissueEngineeringTriangle and replacing it with cell-deposited and self-assembled extracellular matrix. The promise was clear, offering a path toward more in vivo-like tissues, but even thirty years later the field remained close to its earliest form. Sheets stayed sheets, even though far more was needed. At Evolved.Bio we took our first step toward changing that direction a while ago. #AnchoredCellSheetEngineering was born, and Cell Sheet Engineering could finally make physiologically relevant and mature 3D form factors (structured fibers and sheets) to better address regenerative medicine requirements (https://lnkd.in/dA_8acm5). Today, we are sharing the next evolution of this platform. We can now fabricate hollow constructs, form factors that were previously out of reach, in a seamless manner (https://lnkd.in/dbBhV4Gh). With sheets, fibers, and now hollow constructs, this #ScaffoldFree #Toolbox is complete with all the #BioLEGO parts needed to #Bioassemble complex organ-level constructs. In a year when global investment in #CellTherapy and #RegenerativeMedicine has tightened, it can feel impossible to push the field forward. But progress does not pause for funding cycles. The only way through is to keep innovating, keep building, and keep improving what we can offer to patients who urgently need better options. We are proud to have played our part in this progress.
