Empty kilometres cost money, time and emissions – yet they often go unnoticed in day-to-day operations. They occur when trucks return without reusable pallets, or when load carriers are not recovered and redistributed efficiently. Over time, these “in-between” journeys add up, creating avoidable transport movements, higher fuel consumption and additional operational workload. Pooling reduces empty running by coordinating recovery and redistribution as part of the service. Pallets move in tighter, more connected loops, cutting unnecessary kilometres across the network. It’s a practical way to improve efficiency and reduce impact – without changing how goods move through the supply chain. Learn more about pallet pooling in practice 👉 https://lnkd.in/esFgM69u

Most pallet movements look straightforward. A truck arrives. Pallets are unloaded. New ones are dispatched. The flow appears simple from the outside. Behind the scenes, continuity depends on coordination across producers, depots, hauliers and operations teams. Pallets are sourced, inspected, repaired, stored and redistributed close to where they are needed. Forecasts are monitored. Inventory is balanced. Transport routes are adjusted. IPP orchestrates this network so complexity is managed in the background and pallet availability remains stable as volumes shift. That is how Intelligent flow supports reliable supply chains in practice. Discover how logistics collaboration strengthens pallet pooling 👉 https://lnkd.in/ehc8tGpn

🚛 At IPP, this impact shows up in the everyday. In how millions of wooden pallets move, are repaired and reused across Europe. In high-volume environments like FMCG and retail, keeping those assets in circulation for longer helps reduce the need for new raw materials and emissions-intensive production - while keeping operations running smoothly.

World Earth Day is a good moment to talk about impact. At Faber Group, it’s also a moment to look at what sits behind it. In supply chains, sustainability often comes down to everyday choices: choosing reuse over single use, repairing assets instead of replacing them, and keeping load carriers in circulation for as long as possible. When those choices are repeated at scale, the impact becomes measurable. In 2024 alone, Faber Group enabled over 131 million load carrier movements across Europe using reusable pooling systems, helping customers avoid more than 40,000 tonnes of CO₂e compared to less sustainable alternatives. These results don’t come from one-off initiatives. They come from systems designed to last, and from small operational decisions made consistently, every day. That’s how sustainability moves from ambition to action. When loads are stable and well balanced, handling becomes safer, damage is reduced and pallet flows stay predictable from warehouse to delivery. When they’re not, small issues can quickly lead to delays, rework or safety risks further down the line. Getting it right doesn’t require complex rules or extra effort. It comes down to a few consistent practices that help protect people, products and pallet quality every day. Swipe through the carousel to see practical loading principles that support safer handling and smoother pallet flows. Learn more about correct pallet loading in practice 👉 https://lnkd.in/e4iXspiK

Partnerships play a key role in advancing lower-emission transport. Together with Transporte Scholz and PAKi Logistics, we have introduced an electric truck into operations, supporting the transport of load carriers across our network. This collaboration shows what can be achieved when partners across the supply chain align their expertise and work towards a shared objective: reducing emissions while maintaining reliable and efficient logistics flows. It also provides practical insight into how electric transport performs in real operations, helping us understand how these solutions can be integrated and scaled over time. Projects like this show how lower-emission transport becomes part of daily logistics: through collaboration, shared responsibility and continuous improvement across the network. How can lower-emission transport become part of everyday logistics? In pallet pooling, better decisions start with better understanding. Knowing where load carriers are, how they’re used and how flows evolve over time makes a real difference to daily operations. It helps teams anticipate demand, reduce inefficiencies and keep availability balanced across the network. That’s where data comes in. Across IPP’s pooling system, millions of pallet movements generate signals about dwell times, circulation patterns and recovery performance. By connecting pallets and load carriers with data, these signals become visible and actionable. Data turns information into insight. It supports forecasting, improves redistribution decisions and highlights where intervention is needed earlier, strengthening day-to-day operations without replacing operational expertise. The result is smarter pooling behind the scenes, and more reliable pallet flows in practice. Discover how IPP’s connected load carriers support smarter supply chains 👉 https://lnkd.in/eQffm_W3

Keeping pallet flows reliable across borders takes more than local availability. It takes a network that works as one. IPP operates a European pooling network spanning multiple regions across Europe, with operations and depots connected into a single, coordinated system. Pallets are inspected, repaired, stored and redistributed close to where demand is, helping availability remain stable even as volumes shift. Today, IPP supports over 1,750 customers, manages a pool of more than 18 million load carriers, and works with 180+ depots and partners across Europe. That scale allows pallets to circulate in tighter loops, reduces unnecessary transport, and supports continuity across international supply chains. What customers experience is simplicity. Behind the scenes, it’s the strength of a connected European network that keeps pallet flows predictable, day after day.
