A recent INFICON study put those assumptions to the test using 1.5 years of factory data. The results are eye opening: Process time variability plays a bigger role than expected, while availability and utilization matter less than classic models suggest.   • 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱? In industrial leak detection, there’s a great difference between methods that don’t use test gases—such as water bath, soap spray, or pressure testing—and tracer gas-based methods. While traditional methods can work for basic checks, they rely heavily on human observation and are difficult to automate. Tracer gas methods, on the other hand, offer much higher sensitivity and repeatability, making them ideal for detecting even very small leaks in industrial environments.
