Opening day at the Palma International Boat Show — and this one is shaping up to be a record edition. Set against the stunning backdrop of Marina Port de Mallorca, this year's show has a sharp focus on large sailing yacht innovation and high-value brokerage. Spanning 5,000 m² with 20 premium berths and over 20 stands, the Superyacht New Build Hub is where the very best in large yacht construction is on show — custom builds, hybrid propulsion, ground-breaking design. Renowned shipyards and naval architects are presenting their latest work, and for owners, designers, and project managers, it's the place where ideas move from concept to launch. A short sea shuttle or bike ride from Moll Vell, it's also just a genuinely enjoyable way to spend a morning. Wishing the entire organising team at Palma International Boat Show a fantastic show. Here's to record numbers, inspiring conversations, and plenty of exciting builds on the water. What do boaters actually want? And who is the next generation of boating enthusiasts? These aren't hypothetical questions — they're ones the North American boating industry has invested seriously in answering. At the ICOMIA/IFBSO Congress in Washington D.C. this May, we're proud to present the findings of a major research initiative commissioned by Discover Boating and the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA), conducted in partnership with global research firm Ipsos. The session — Future of Recreational Boating: Strategic Insights Shaping the North American Market — brings together qualitative and quantitative research across current and prospective boat owners to paint a detailed picture of where the market is heading. Consumer behaviours, motivations, barriers to participation, and the most promising pathways for sustainable growth — it's all in there. Presenting the findings are two of Ipsos's leading researchers: Stephanie Don, Vice President of Market Strategy & Understanding, who specialises in complex quantitative programmes that turn data into enterprise-wide decisions; and Jennifer Bender, Associate Partner and Head of Trends & Foresight at Ipsos Strategy3, who helps organisations envision and navigate transformative change. For boat show organisers, understanding who your future visitor is — and what drives them toward or away from boating — is foundational. This session delivers exactly that. Congress is May 26–28. We're delighted to welcome SEAQUIP – Mediterranean Yacht and Marine Equipment Show to IFBSO International Federation of Boat Show Organisers as our newest Emerging Member! Organised by Easyfairs Italia Srl and held at Fiera Milano Rho, SEAQUIP is a dedicated B2B exhibition connecting yacht manufacturers, shipyards, naval architects, designers, marinas, and suppliers across the Mediterranean and beyond. Their inaugural edition in March 2026 set a high bar — over 3,000 trade visitors, and a conference programme that went straight to the heart of what's shaping the industry right now: hybrid propulsion and R&D innovation with Azimut|Benetti Group Group, decarbonisation with Volvo Penta, MTU, and MAN Engines, foiling technology with engineering teams from Ferretti Group and Sanlorenzo Yacht, additive manufacturing, carbon fibre recycling, and luxury brand storytelling in the digital age. That's the kind of show that earns its place in our community from day one. We look forward to supporting the SEAQUIP team as they grow, and to seeing what the next edition — scheduled for March 2027 — will bring. Welcome aboard! ⚓ 🔗 www.seaquip.it #IFBSO #SEAQUIP #BoatShows #MarineIndustry #worldsbestboatshows

What does the world's largest consumer technology event have to teach boat show organisers? Quite a lot, it turns out. At the ICOMIA & IFBSO International Federation of Boat Show Organisers Congress in Washington D.C. this May, we're sitting down with John T. Kelley — Vice President at the Consumer Technology Association and Show Director for CES — for a conversation about what it takes to run an event that genuinely sets the agenda for an industry. CES draws over 100,000 attendees, launches careers, and shapes global markets. The lessons embedded in how it's built, programmed, and evolved are exactly the kind of thinking our community needs more of. This is one of those sessions where you come for the curiosity and leave with ideas you'll be applying for years. The ICOMIA IFBSO Congress, hosted by the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) is May 26–28 in Washington D.C. Registration link below. You DO NOT want to miss this session! #ifbso #worldsbestboatshows #icomia #congress2026 #nmma #ces
