🌍 Shift from adoption to high-quality implementation of global sustainability reporting standards With the growing adoption of IFRS S1 and IFRS S2 across ~40 jurisdictions, the focus must now shift from awareness to high-quality implementation. Without it, the goal of consistent, comparable sustainability information for investors won’t be realized. We have long championed enhanced corporate reporting, recognizing that stakeholders need better insights into performance, risks, opportunities, and long-term value. Now, through a recent pilot initiative in Thailand, we are supporting this next step with a deep dive into: 🔹 Conceptual foundations of International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) Standards 🔹 Core content (governance, strategy, risk management, metrics & targets) 🔹 Materiality, connection to the financial statements, and industry-specific disclosures 🔹 Proportionality mechanisms and transition reliefs 🔹 Climate scenario analysis and Scope 3 emissions 🔹 Assurance of sustainability information 🗨️ IFAC Chief Executive Officer Lee White said: “On behalf of IFAC and the global profession, I thank UK PACT (Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions) for their purpose-driven financial support of this important pilot training event, as well as the Securities and Exchange Commission, Thailand; The Stock Exchange of Thailand; the Thai Listed Company Association; and the Federation of Accounting Professions Under His Majesty The King’s Royal Patronage for their strong support of the ISSB’s mission. Your efforts made this event a success. It was an honour to have such distinguished organizations present with us in Bangkok.” The path forward is clear: adoption is only the beginning. The real challenge is turning high-quality standards into high-quality information that supports strategy, risk assessment, capital allocation, and sustainable business models. 🌍 Earlier this week, we had a productive and engaging discussion at our invitation-only side event during the 2026 UN ECOSOC Forum on Financing for Development Follow-Up (FfD Forum). Co-hosted by IFAC alongside UNDP, UNODC, the Governments of Norway and the United Kingdom, Spotlight on Corruption, Transparency International, the U4 Anti-Corruption Resource Centre, the International Bar Association, and the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA), the session focused on implementing commitments around the role of professional service providers in tackling illicit financial flows. 🗨️ IFAC Head of Professional Accountancy Organization (PAO) Development, Darlene Nzorubara, said: "Professional accountants play a critical role in fighting against corruption. It is essential to strengthen PAOs' collaboration with regulators, law enforcement, governments, and civil society by moving beyond information sharing to joint capacity-building, coordinated policies, and aligned regulatory frameworks. Working together this way will help to close detection gaps, improve enforcement, and enhance transparency and accountability. There is real importance to training professional accountants across the globe on the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) recommendations; in order to do so, jurisdictions need to develop resources to engage with FATF's risk-based approach." The discussion highlighted a shared commitment to building more transparent and resilient financial systems. Cecile Bonino-Liti | Søren Vester Haldrup

Wellbeing at the center of our latest IFAC Young Leaders Collective Meeting. At our most recent meeting, early-career professionals from across the globe came together for an honest, energizing, and deeply human conversation, one that reminded us why this Collective exists. We were privileged to open with a guest reflection from Husnain R. Badami, Fellow Chartered Accountant and one of the youngest Vice Presidents in the history of ICAP. Husnain shared an inspiring and refreshingly non-linear career journey, from academia to entrepreneurship, and from local engagement to global impact, grounded in a simple but powerful philosophy: career as a portfolio, not a pathway. His message? Growth, meaning, and service to the profession are not trade-offs. They are the journey. The conversation that followed, through a wellbeing pulse check, breakout discussions, and rich group reflections, surfaced themes that will stay with us: the importance of psychological safety, the quiet cost of always being "on", the power of recognition, and the need for wellbeing to be a value system rather than a one-day event. Members spoke candidly about the gaps, long hours, disconnected leadership, unclear boundaries, and the opportunities: flexibility, mentorship, community, and leaders who model what balance actually looks like. Through the IFAC Young Leaders Collective, early-career professionals are not just participants in these conversations. They are shaping them. #IFAC #YoungLeaders #WorkplaceWellbeing #AccountancyProfession #EarlyCareerProfessionals #Leadership #ProfessionalGrowth #GlobalAccounting
