Quill Power. Philadelphia is where ideas first became ink on paper. The design for Polsinelli's Philadelphia office takes its cue from that moment in history, drawing inspiration from the tools that shaped it: the quill, the inkwell, and the written script. These ideas appear throughout the workplace in subtle, intentional ways. The office is organized around how people actually work together, across floors and across digital platforms. A central stair anchors the space, linking two floors and both sides of the workplace. A café on the lower level acts as a shared destination, drawing people through the office and supporting informal meetings and collaboration. The result is a workplace that balances focus with openness. Together, they create an environment that supports mentorship, collaboration, and connection while reflecting both the character of the firm and the city it calls home. Forest floor to corner office 🍂 A suspended tree canopy installation anchors the lobby of Five Elms Capital Kansas City office. Developed through a Hufft-led digital design-build studio with students from the KU School of Architecture & Design, the piece translates the firm’s 2D logo into a suspended field of 5,000 wood and aluminum leaves. The elements are distributed across 748 tensioned cables, spanning more than a mile of steel cable, with each leaf digitally positioned to create a canopy that shifts subtly as you move through the space. The workplace expansion is shaped by a culture of calm, clarity, and focus. Drawing from a landscape framework of trees and mountains, the interior uses deep green surfaces, layered textures, and long sight lines to create an atmosphere that feels grounded yet forward focused. Material shifts, integrated installations, and carefully framed views carry these landscape references through the workplace, reinforcing a sense of orientation and identity across the floor. From shopping destination to employment hub.   Large indoor malls once shaped suburban life, and West Ridge Mall was that place for Topeka. As retail shifted, the structure and its presence in the community remained.   We transformed the mall into a corporate headquarters for Advisors Excel, with 350,000 SF of office space alongside 60,000 SF of revitalized retail, repositioning the mall as a mixed use destination for work and daily life.   Deep floor plates and inward corridors became opportunities to carve in light, define a clear front door, and apply a new facade inspired by the surrounding Flint Hills. Pattern and shadow create movement, while glass brings in daylight and allows views. HPER (Re)focused. The renovation of the University of Arkansas HPER building transforms underutilized spaces into an activated recreation environment that reflects current student preferences and evolving patterns of use. Designed to support a growing student population, the project provides UREC with a flexible facility that aligns space utilization with demand. A consolidated entrance establishes a clear point of arrival with direct views into and out of the building, uniting the exterior with a cohesive façade and giving the facility a strong identity from the street, while oversized locker rooms were repurposed to make room for expanded fitness and group exercise areas. The previously disjointed and enclosed floor plan was opened to improve circulation, visibility, and connection, introducing daylight and exterior views into areas that were once under lit and grounding the project in place through native stone and integrated landscape elements.
