“What I valued most about being a military brat was the diversity, constant change, and exposure to so many different people and experiences. It taught me to adapt quickly, connect easily, and understand the weight military families carry, including my own. Some of my favorite memories were at Onslow Beach on Camp Lejeune, the place that first made the ocean feel like it would always be home. Those early experiences shape how I show up today with awareness, compassion, and respect for the stories people hold.” - Samantha Getha, LCSW, Clinical Care Coordinator

“I was a pretty shy child, and constantly moving was hard growing up. Looking back, I’m so grateful for the opportunity to see new places and meet so many people. It taught me how to talk to anyone about anything (early therapy skill development!) and appreciate what these men and women go through to protect our country. I gained a deeper understanding of the phrase ‘I’m proud to be an American,’ a song I learned and performed in middle school at Holloman AFB, NM - by far the most impactful duty station of my life." - Kathryn Dosch, LPC, Senior Director of Clinical Network Operations Happy Military Brats Day to all the military brats on our team! #MilitaryBratsDay

“My favorite part of being an Army brat was the excitement of each new duty station. What felt like an adventure to me as a child, I now see as resilience in my own Army brat daughter. With every PCS move, they learn adaptability, seeing change not as disruption, but as opportunity.” - Kristen Rheinlander, Director of Corporate Partnerships Happy Military Brats Day to all the military brats on our team! #MilitaryBratsDay

Lillian Ransom crossed the finish line at the NYCRUNS Brooklyn Experience Half Marathon! After months of training, she completed her first half-marathon in support of The Headstrong Project, raising critical funds for veterans living with PTSD. “I was filled with so much joy and appreciation during the entire race - not only because I had spent all winter training and was finally DOING IT, but also because I truly enjoyed every mile. Seeing everyone cheered on by their friends and family - and being cheered on by my own - was so heartwarming. I cannot wait to do another one and get another PR!” Lily, thank you for showing what it looks like to turn commitment into impact. Your support helps connect veterans to trauma-focused care that helps them move forward. Interested in starting your own fundraiser? At The Headstrong Project, we believe that the battles veterans face after service shouldn’t be fought alone. In 2025, thanks to the dedicated efforts of our staff, clinicians, and supporters, we made meaningful progress to ensure that no one has to. This past year, we provided over 52,000 therapy sessions, connecting more than 2,940+ clients to care. We expanded our in-person services to Montana, Nevada, and South Carolina, while maintaining an average of 12 days from intake to the first appointment. We also advanced our care model through accelerated treatment options and family therapy, helping strengthen outcomes and serve more people. Since 2012, more than 275,000 therapy sessions have been delivered to veterans, service members, and families across the country. Zachary Iscol, Marine Corps veteran and Headstrong co-founder, knows the toughest battles don’t always happen on the battlefield. When he came home from Iraq, he saw firsthand what veterans were facing and knew something had to change. Help veterans win their toughest battles at home. Donate today: https://lnkd.in/e6RkVVnw

Best of luck as The Meltones take the stage tonight at Law Rocks! Huge thanks to Headstrong board member Gregory Fishman and the Greenberg Traurig, LLP team for selecting Headstrong as their nonprofit beneficiary for this annual event. Each year, Greenberg Traurig’s house band participates in this legal battle-of-the-bands to support a charity of their choosing, and we’re excited to be part of it. Rock on, Meltones!

Psychedelic-assisted therapies are an area of growing interest in the treatment of PTSD, with ongoing research exploring their potential role. At The Headstrong Project, we’re encouraged by increased investment in rigorous scientific study, particularly for veterans who don’t respond to first-line, evidence-based treatments such as CPT, EMDR, and Prolonged Exposure (PE). In practice, this is not an either-or dynamic. We maintain partnerships with organizations conducting research in these areas. We also work with veterans who have pursued or are interested in these treatments and continue to benefit from evidence-based, trauma-focused therapy as a core component of their care. Guided by our Scientific Advisory Board, including members actively involved in psychedelic research, we will continue to monitor emerging data closely and evaluate new approaches with a focus on clinical effectiveness, safety, and real-world application for veterans. War coverage can be triggering for some veterans. For those living with PTSD, repeated exposure to combat footage can activate the same stress response tied to past trauma. News runs constantly, and social media pushes it even further. Veterans don’t have to seek it out to be affected. At The Headstrong Project, we expand access to trauma-focused treatment that helps reduce the intensity of these reactions so veterans can stay present in their daily lives. Donate today to help expand access to care for our nation's warriors. Link in comments. #TriumphOverTrauma
